What chance ? As a Liverpool fan points out, probably no chance at all because he's based at an English club.

Please start a Ronaldo bashing thread somewhere else if you need to slag him off in typical 'manu and their players are scum' fashion - just interested to know if he deserves the award or not in your opinion or whether you see him as incomplete or run of the mill

Yep - it's heavily biased towards the latin/med clubs and always has been.

I thought Ronaldo was over 6ft tall if you want the world player shortlist then surely Pat Nevin or Denis Wise would be more suitable.......or have I missed the point?

A year ago I'd have agreed with that but his all round game has become awesome in my eyes, with more promised.

I sometimes think its easy to miss how good a player actually is when you watch him all the time. And I think the same goes for when we rarely/occasionally see foreign players such as Messi and Kaka, we get carried away because we only normally see the highlights in a review programme.

I know I'm biased but I'm trying to give as unbiased view as I possibly can.

Ronaldo is the finest player in the premiership full stop.just wish he could wear an England shirt,and show up the rest of the squad.one of the only players who deserves a big cheque at the end of the week ..Quality

I think to say he is a cheat is a bit outdated, Fergie has probably given him a few rollockings about it, and i think turned him into a better player

If Chelsea had bought him Jose would have encouraged the diving and his cheater tag would have remained

Messi deserves it, his performances last season were as good as Ronaldo's, 12 league goals in just 25 games, spending a massive time injured, this season however he's been on a completely different level, last time a player played that well was the real Ronaldo in his Barcelona/Inter days, when he was completely untouchable. He already has 11 league goals and 5 champions league goals, absolutely incredible for a winger.

He is a very good player, but last nights dive was a disgrace. He could have easily gone round Niemi but instead chose to jump and dive over him. Then the fact that the man utd management go and say that Niemi "conned" the referee was disgusting

Even if Niemi didn't make contact, it was because Ronaldo jumped, he denied a clear goal scoring opportunity without making contact with the ball, penalty.

Never ceases to amaze me how much hatred somebody can have for somebody else, when they've probably never met.
