Wish Allardyce would s*d off, we're going nowhere with him. He continually plays players out of position and we go to the likes of Derby and Reading and defend!!! No wonder the players are lacking confidence, it's instilled in them that the players from other teams are superior and we must hold on for dear life and pray that we get a lucky break. He'll be sacked before Xmas after we lose our next two games against Blackburn and Arsenal.

It would be wrong to say Newcastle fans are the worst in the league - at least they turn up to watch their team, unlike Chel$ki etc wink - but the club's going nowhere if they won't give a new manager time.

I dislike Fat Head Sam as much as anybody; I don't like his tactics, his shameful self promotion on tv etc, but the guy has to be given a chance to put his mark on the club.

Many Newcastle fans seem to think that they have a divine right to be in the top 4 and do this by playing attractive football, but they have to accept that it's a hard league and that sometimes ugly wins.

When we played them yesterday the team was woeful, but the fans were worse. Booing their team and manager from the off. Ridiculous.

I made a comment to a best mate of mine who's a Geordie fan saying that the manager needs to be given time, and that the fans need to give him and the team their full support. His reply; "we did, for 15 mins..." laughlaughlaugh

Newcastle fans got used to attacking football under keegan, and thats what they want back, so what do the powers that be do?? go and hire mr long ball himself Sam Allardyce! Yes he did an amazing job at bolton but he did it in a scrappy way. Houllier could be a good choice for newcastle if they get rid of big sam in the near future. He made Lyon a genuine european force.

It is a long term project, but Allardyce was picked by Shepherd. I believe if Ashley & Mort had appointed him they'd stand by him, but from what's been said before it doesn't sound like they were impressed with Freddie Shepherd's work.

Having said all that, booting him out now would be stupid. It would be yet another example of a manager buying in half a team and then getting the boot. Its happened too many times in the recent past and they need some stability. Unless Morinho declared his undying love of the Geordie faithful that is...

Why do they think they're a big club - just cos everyone in their city supports them and only them?

I grant you that being so far from London you tend to grow up with a bit of a chip on your shoulder as a NU fan, seeing all success down further south - I count Manchester in that!

In the 80s they used to get 6000 to a home game, where were they all then? Keegan came along and gave them some pride back and belive em, that night at St james', I wanted them to beat Man U so badly - but they didn't and cantona finished them off.

A team of nearly men.

Give Allardyce a chance though, christ he's only been there five mins. How many managers have they had since the Premiership began?

And you knew what he was like beforehand.

My smoggie mate got dressed up in a NU shirt and painted tears on his cheeks to walk round Stockton every time they let the 12-point gap close in that season.

It was exciting though!

Typical Newcastle ans thinking they're a bigger team than they actually are, Allardyce has a lot of work to do just to catch up with teams like Spurs, Everton and Blackburn, all of whom have made much more progress than Newcastle in recent years and as a result are much better teams. Add to that teams like Aston Villa and Man City having MUCH more money to spend and you can see it's not going to be easy at Newcastle. Big Sam is a great manager who knows how to get results against good teams. This season you should be happy with a top 10 finish, you're not a good team ffs.

Catch up with Spurs? Have you looked at the league table recently? Didn't Newcastle beat them 3-1 ?

Considering how much we have spent we should be a bigger and better team than we are at the present moment. Allardyce has totally drained the players of their confidence. Keegan had his team brimming and walking tall with confidence as did his mentor Bill Shankly. Allardyce has Newcastle going out on the pitch with a negative and defeatist attitude with a single objecive, containing the opposition!!! Look how the players ran back onto the pitch for the second half against Liverpool, they were totally devoid of any fight or enthusiasm.

Alardyce bought 4 new defenders but he seems to prefer playing other players out of position in defence instead. Taylor shouldn't be playing, he's wild and overated and N'Zogbia isn't a defender and is a total waste in defence.

Ah yes, look at the table of a season not even halfway through to see that Newcastle are better than Spurs? Look at the last 2 seasons' tables, I have little doubt Spurs will finish above Newcastle come the end of the season, they're only 6 points behind you at the moment.

You haven't spent a massive amount of money this season in comparison to other clubs, the top 4, Pompey, Villa, West Ham, Sunderland and Tottenham have all spent more or roughly the same, and with the exception of Sunderland and West Ham, the rest were a better team than you last season.

Newcastle fans have a history of booing players and managers for no good reason, Allardyce has proven at Bolton he can get a team to finish above his station, so give him at least a season, and don't expect to finish in the top 6 this year, you're barely a top 10 team, other than West Ham, all the teams above you either have better resources or better squads, the only department you have European quality players is up front.

That back four hasn't been very consistent all season though tonker, as individual players there is nothing wrong with Cacapa, Rozenhal, Enrique, Beye, Taylor or Faye. More often than not the defense has changed from match to match, and so has the keeper. Newcastle's usual injury record has prevented a decent 1st team being selected consistently, and has left Allardyce playing players out of position.

A squad of this lot shouldn't be struggling in the Premiership:

Given, Harper - both would be quite a lot of teams first choice.
Beye, Enrique, Carr, Taylor, Rozenhal, Cacapa, Faye, Ramage - Between 4 and 6 would be first choices elsewhere, including clubs at the same level.
N'Zogbia, Milner, Duff, Emre, Butt, Barton - IMHO we've got two of the best young wingers in the premiership in Milner & NZogbia. Once again the rest are top players.
Smith, Owen, Martins, Ameobi, Viduka - Would argue 4 of them would be first choices elsewhere.

The talent is there, big Sam's just not getting the best out of them yet.

I can't believe the impatience of Newcastle fans. They have hardly given Allardyce a chance to gel a team together and they are already calling for his head, absolutely bloody ridiculous!!!

As for Newcastle fans being the best in the country, that's just boocks! I remember going to Newcastle in about 1990 and there were about 14,000 there, best fans in the country my arse!

The best fans in the country are Man City without a doubt!

I'm sorry but that's moronic, they're not struggling, they're 11th, that's closer to europe than relegation.

Well to avoid being called a moron, I'll reword it then. That squad should not be in the bottom half of the table. With games against Blackburn and Arsenal coming up, I'm certainly not expecting 6 points to remedy the current position either.

What I came to the thread to say is that I'd agree that talk of Allardyce getting the boot is absolutely ridiculous.

Sorry, calling it moronic was a bit harsh and childish, certainly less moronic than my ability to quote...

I still think a team like Newcastle should be happy with mid-table this season, there was a chance of higher, but they can't expect it, if in three years they aren't in the top 6 then look for someone else.

biggrin try being a Norwich fan like me, not only are we bottom of the table, but we're stuck with somebody who was actually useless at Newcastle!
