Has anyone arranged an independant ski trip before
ie. booked a flight/train and hotel seperately. I have a large group (15)to organise and am looking at whether its cheaper to try DIY style or stick with a tour operator?

Thinking or Flying to Salzburg, Austria - train to St Anton.... any one have train prices? also good/bad experiences appreciated!

Not much help, but I have done Klosters. It involved:
  • easyjet: Luton to Zurich
  • Buy train ticket at Zurich airport. A couple of minutes walk from Arrivals to the platform
  • 5 min train from airport to Zurich terminus
  • A pair of double-decker trains to the middle of nowhere
  • Cross platform for the cog train into the centre of Klosters.
I found it very pleasant (certainly better than that piggin' four hours on a coach) and overall I think it was quite cheap. However, I had the benefit of a colleague who knew what he was doing.
