Who is Rossi`s successor?

I genuinely thought that when Pedrosa came to the motogp class that he would be rossi`s main threat and the one to steal his reign. I knew Stoner was rapid but thought he would crash at crucial times, god how wrong can you be, the man has been awesome this year. A true champions performance (+ one hell of a bike!).

The question is this, Can he keep it up or will pedrosa and honda come good?

Basing this on the fact that the yamaha is a pup and not the fact that they are better than rossi, I still think he is the best in the business.

Hey good question.

Rossi's value comes in his ability to ride nearly any bike as well as can be in any circumstance, he seems to feel things very well and adapt to suit it.

Stoner is incredibly fast, but we need some more time to see if he is a better version of Barros (unbeatable IF the bike is exactly how he needs it) or a Rossi.

I think Rossi's adaptability and pure enjoyment of what he does will make him very hard to replace.

Indeed, well said, he is very adaptable, maybe yamaha will get off there backsides and pull something out of the hat but it would have to be good to beat the ducati.

I should have put this in general motorsport, can one of the mods move it for me please?

Barros never won a world championship, don't think you can compare him to Stoner.

My opinion is Stoner will always be there or there abouts now. Its not like Hayden where you knew he would not win many races.

I know, comparing him to barros is bizarre, barros has only won seven races in motogp through a hell of a lot of years, pure experience keeps him going now. Stoner has won 10 and counting in one season, only a limited handful of riders have done that.
I think stoner is the real deal, hayden just did it through pure consistency and everyone elses bad luck (not that hes rubbish, cause he isnt).
I also dont think yamaha can get that heap of junk any better.

Barros is a rider who needs things to be perfect to do well

at the other end of the spectrum.......

Rossi can ride almost anything to the best of it's ability.

This year, Stoner has has a good bike, with good tires, and has blitzed everyone.
Could he do the same if the bike was a bit shonky? Would he be fighting the bike to get it home in 2nd.... or getting passed by lots of people?

We have seen him drop back a bit when his tires have been bad, but did he choose to ease off and score some easy points, or was he not good enough to get the bike home on dodgy tires like Rossi would?

Would be interesting to see what happens if the tyres are taken out of the equation.

Would stoner still be as dominant on the ducati? or would Pedrosa & Rossi be there.

A shame toseland has gone to MotoGP for 2008. Edwards & Him will be at the back for 2008.

Sorry dude, youre right though, hopefully we will find out next year, i hope he isnt a fl;ash in the pan as its good for the sport to have a few up there fighting for wins.
