Just interested if there are any? If yes- what training (strenght & stamina) do you rekon benifit you the most.

Also wondering if there's anything I may be missing out in my boxing training.

Cheers

Don't claim to be the best boxer in the world and only had 4 fights, last fight was in 1999, but we just got hammered on loads of body resistant exercies, i'e press ups, heaves (chin ups) dips, plenty of abs ensure to hit obliques, lower and upper abs. I'd imagine nowadays they get smashed on plenty of core stability as well.

Any weights we done was all light, we done a long steady distance run 3 x a week and speed training 2 x a week, if your near the sea or a pit get running in that sand if you can makes life harder.

All the training sessions which included light weights was taken in a circuit style, used to do the normal bag and pad work then he used to get us power punching on the bag for set times, we'd just stand square on and straight arm punching for set time, say a 30sec then a 20sec followed by 10, 3 x through.

Looking back only thing I was coached wrong was my weight loss, used to do the old running in black bin bag and starve myself to fight light heavy, should have fought at my normal weight, it made me feel weak dieting.

Yeah, thats similar to what I'm doing just now; circuits/jogging, sparring, bag work etc. Do heavy weights have place in training (for power) or should they be left untill technique is perfected?

Cheers

I do kick boxing twice a week. Its bloody hard work and a totally different fitness from running in the gym. Since i started a lot of my mates who are personal trainers in my gym have started too and they struggle with the fitness.

Its great fun, bloody hard work and good for you. Never realised how much stamina you have to have when sparring.
