'Friendly' Aus/UK Banter ??????
Discussion
Don't think so. Imagine if someone from the RFU had used a word like 'hate; to describe their feelings of another nation.

fair cop to criticise his comments - either he is just doing the big psych wind up like Glenda always did in the days before any cricket clash with the "old enemy" or he is a small minded idiot - don't know his form well enuf to judge either way. Hardly fair to label the whole Oz nation as having a inferiority complex just because of one bloke's comments? Doing that is probabbly just as small minded as him TBH.
As a population approx 30% size of UK I think the record of consistent world cups and world championship acheivements speaks far louder than any inferiority label you might want to sling. Fact is that most soap dodgers love to hate the Aussies because deep down they wish they could be so chilled out, freely spoken & consistently good at sport instead of treating their poor legions of fans to a rollercoaster of inconsistency.

My comments regarding the inferiority complex is that you often seen Australians in the media saying they hate England and bla bla, when do you see an Englishman saying the same thing????? Its always the Aussies who love to shoot their mouths offs and hee must be a reason for it.As a population approx 30% size of UK I think the record of consistent world cups and world championship acheivements speaks far louder than any inferiority label you might want to sling. I think the key word in all of this is 'hate', which is an incredably powerful word. I don't hate any nation on earth, i think some nations have more morons than others but this type of comment is disgusting. Take into account his postion as Australia's director of rugby and the responsibility that should go with that job and its even more disgusting. I hope Brian Ashton pins this article to the wall before the game (should we beat Tonga), and hopefully this might be the thing that finally fires the boys up and they play with some passion and commitment lacking in the past 4 years of performances.
I know how i'd feel reading that before running onto the pitch. Borders on racism.
Australia are a great nation in terms of sport, well done. This type of comment goes beyond banter and certainly isn't sportsmanship. I live in Aus for a while and its the attitude i only found in small, isolated backward towns - expected more from a guy in his position.
Banter is fine, talking up your team and a match, fine - this , well, i've said enough

Only the English would invent a game where you need 5 consecutive days of good weather - so as we never get to practice the game it's understandable the Aussies are better As a population approx 30% size of UK I think the record of consistent world cups and world championship acheivements speaks far louder than any inferiority label you might want to sling. As for the rugby - for it to be a fair fight we need howling wind, hail, snow and mud to play properly - sunshine's for pimms and cricket.

It seems much the same as that moron brian moores comments about Scotland whenever he's on tv, yet I dont hear anyone complaining about him from south of the border.
I might be missing something, but when did Brian Moore ever say in the press or on TV that he 'Hates Scotland'I'm all for ex players saying how much they love to beat Eng or Australia , thats part of the game, and Eng is a nation that most like to beat - i personally like it that way. I like the way that that some nations feel beating Eng is their pinnacle, i see it as a massive compliment (or ignorant morons not letting go of the past).
I don't mind Campo's comments which are usually anti' England, but you know it comes from many years of rivalry on the pitch and at least when he shoots his mouth off he has the decency to take the consequences when he's wrong
Connelly should be fined and made to make a public apology.

Us Kiwis know all about Aussie sportsmanship - it doesn't exist. Watch them come the raw prawn whenever a team loses, they are a bit like petulant, spoil children. As good as they are there is definitely an ugly side simmering underneath.
