Great news for British athletics.
"I'm proud because I got up every single day and trained hard with the World Championships in mind." said the new champ - and well done to her for her second PB inside a week. We need more top-class athletes or the amount of money being spent on 2012 will be difficult to justify.

However on Monday, Kelly Sotherton was all over the news for suggesting the heptathlete Blonska was 'hard to trust' as she had returned from a drugs ban even better than before. Ohuruogu, also, has just returned from a ban - for missing tests rather than a failed test. Who can you trust?

But to comment on the "missed tests", one of my old training partners missed two tests - the system is so unreliable that he was actually wheree the testers tried to find him, but just 10 minutes after they left - he'd been delayed by trains both times. If you're on the testing list you need to provide your location to the testers weeks in advance, it was then difficult to notify them of any change at short notice.

All the medalists at the WC are being tested plus random others so Ohuruogu will be tested now and I'm confident it'll be negative.

Kelly Sotherton's comments are difficult - the person has served their ban (as defined in the rules) and undoubtedly has passed many tests since her failure so is legally allowed to compete. If Sotherton doesn't like the rules, she needs to campaign to get them changed (life bans etc), not throw suspicion on specific atheltes - that's the job of the testers, and public comments don't make it any easier.

Let's not forget Nicola Sanders in second! A British 1-2 is something to be proud of. It was a fantastic race as well.

As for the ban, I'm pretty sure there were faults on both sides in events leading up to it, I am also pretty sure she was innocent of taking banned substances.

There are a lot of leading British athletes who have missed TWO tests and are being damn careful they don't miss a third.

Two I could name are massive names in the sport ...

And Christine O is god as I just cleaned up on her at the bookies ... got 50/1!

Get in!

As far as I know the out-of-competition testing procedures have been modified relatively recently to make it easier for athletes to notify the testers of their locations - is this correct? Something along the lines of "Let us know where you'll be for a specific hour each day" so the athlete can say "Between 7 and 8am I will be at home".

It's not so bad for full-time athletes as they can structure their day around their training. For those of us subject to the whims of work and commuting, it can be very difficult to reliably predict where and when we can be found (not a problem for me at the moment since 7mins/mile feels hard paperbag)

Well, that means the UK Athletics target of 3 medals has been attained. Can we get any more I wonder?

I'm pleased for Nicola Sanders as she's struggled a bit after her great indoor season.

Absolutely, on both counts. I've never thought that Ohuruogu was guilty of anything untoward, and an excellent performance by both.

Hmmm. With Goldie Sayers and Chris Tomlinson both bombing out in Qualifying it's difficult to see where any more would come from. Womens 4x400 maybe?

Yes, they have to let the WADA people know as you say, for an hour each day and then be there ...

The problem with Christine O was that she simply was so disorganised she wasn't there ...

Athletes have to take responsibility for their actions as she found out.

But she has got the rewards she deserved.

Not crowing but the AW office made £4450 in total on that result ...

Men's 4x100 might be a good chance too (assuming the baton gets round!).

I agree ... men's sprint relay in a good medal possibility - the 4x400 less so though.

We have more chance in the women's 4x400 of course ... with Sanders and Ohurougo ... must check the odds.

McConnell, Meadows, Sanders, Ohurougu is a pretty strong team.

With 3 semi-finalists in the men's 100m (more than the americans hehe) we have a fairly good chance. I bet they're practising handovers day and night at the moment.

We reckon McConnell, Sanders, Danvers-Smith and Ohuruogo will be the team for the final ...

Another great quartet although for some reason I've never rated Danvers-Smith - I guess that's a blind spot in my predictions.

3:21.00 we reckon the British women will run in the final ... which should get a medal ...

The Americans will go under 3:20.00 however to secure gold ...

All wild predictions!

Ohuruogo cleared for Olympic selection - the correct decision IMO.
