Loverly Beckham free kick and some glorious 'don't mess' tackles from Gerrard.

Interesting stuff but have England got anything left to raise the game?

England look very commited but i see a gap in ball control, brazil can do their stuff so much better close up.
Ime not sure wether its just plainly more skill or they have so much more confidence than us,maybe if we had a manager that could fill our players with confidence it would make a difference?
But yes this is an improvement.

dunno, quite a quiet game all said. Pleased to see the referee is letting the game flow a little bit more than you'd see in a competition game, but it's a little dull at the same time. A few nice breaks though.
Give that Brazilian chap who uses Janet street porter's dentist the ball so we can all have some excitement clap

I think the defence is a bit out of sorts. Terry and King are both doing well under pressure, but at times Brazil are coming from so far out they are at a loss to know who to pick up!!

I must say Fat Frank is once again poor.

Nice
Ex captain (who is rightly in the squad) to the current captain.

What can the BRA-Zillians do back?

I swear chunky Lampard is on purely to make less space on the pitch.

not a bad goal at all.

Hands up if you think they'll hold on to the lead...

Bugger.

But at least that is the best I have seen England play under Macca's reign, all it took was Beckham to come back and Gerrard to pull off one of his best performances in a three lion shirt.

Notice how England played some much better pushing hard and fast rather than the back four passing the ball around?

I see Joe Cole gave his usual performance - 4 stepovers followed by a pass to the opposition.

I thought Nicky Storey did well - he was very assured and Gerrard was immense. Beckham was ok, at least he always gives 100% but what hold has Lampard got over England managers? Another awful performance from a grossly over rated player.

WHY?
Because he scored that goal?
He wasted more possesion than any other player and then hit that shot, not from some awesome mazy run, but from a ball cleared out of the box that fell to him....

Not too bad a performance considering the opposition, but yet again we were given a lesson in how to keep the ball. OK, Brazil are probably better than anyone at this, but we gave away possession cheaply far too often.

Just one question: Kieron Dyer - why?

Fickle bunch commentators. Next week Hargeaves will have been the best player again. Or if Beckham plays on Wednesday, it'll no doubt be his decisive crosses that stopped them being completely humilated?

Shorey played very well and linked with Cole well, unfortunately Cole made a hash of it from there. Smith seemed a bit anonymous, and although it looked a better performance, is it really a good thing when Owen and Smith are needed to put in tackles level with their own box?

I think Dyer is a decent player to bring on for the last 10 or 15 minutes to use his pace when others are tired, but to that end you might as well play Wright-Philips. Beckham should definitely keep his place for Estonia, as should Gerrard. And ditch Lampard for goodness sake. Gerrard played a fantastic game with some tough tackles but he shouldn't be playing like that, he should be up there unlocking the door of defences for Owen to sprint through.

Not a bad performance but what is Smith doing in an England shirt again? A perfect chance to get Owen and Crouch together up front to see what they can do and he takes Owen off before Crouchey gets on and plays him up front almost by himself.
