Oh my goodness, what a game. Exeter City winning 2-1 at Oxford tonight then winning a penalty shoot-out to go to Wembley on May 20th to play Morecambe for the right to promotion from the Conference to L2. City have never before been in the play-offs, never won live on TV (in 14 attempts) and never been to Wembley.

What a season, and what a time to be a Grecian.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!

I was there and it was amazing, hard luck to any Oxford fans here, i'd hate to be in your shoes tonight, especially after being 2-0 up on aggregate, but we were fantastic tonight.

I now have no voice left and ache badly but my god was it worth. Now to find some money to go to buy a ticket I suppose!!!!!

Post match celebrations!

I remember the Grecians and St James with fondness having spent 3 or 4 seasons in the cowshed in the late 70s early 80s (The Kellow era). So from a former resident of Exeter, well doneclap, good luck and enjoy!beer

I watched the penalties last night, live.

Quite a turn round of fortune with the kicks as they went on. A good spectacle.

BTW - Whats with the cravate on that managers neck ? Odd dress sense. What's his name? Tinsley or something?

Thanks guys, not sure what the Cravate (sp?) was all about, that's the subject of debate on our forum at the moment...

Still got 90 minutes to go yet though but the anticipation is already huge. Roll on the 20th!

Gentlemen, as your closest league neighbour, may I be the first to congratulate you on a sterling effort. Let's hope you can tonk Morcombe and regain league status. If you do, try not to do what Rushden and Diamonds did!!

clap

eta: message from Home Park coming through.......................

Couldn't watch the match though, only non league I watch is Willand Rovers, much better quality!

Paul Tisdale - the guy is quality. Chatted to him a couple of times now during the season and always found him very down to earth (despite the cravats!) and general all round good bloke.

Post match interview, he seemed decent enough and during the penalties even managed a smile when they missed a penalty. Showed good spirit.

Fair play. yes

Hi there guys,

To the Grecian fans on here - do the names Dave Crockford, Alan Crockford, Richard Shelton, Phil Mitchell and Simon Carter mean anything to any of you?

Simon was my best mate in the late eighties / early nineties and I watched Exeter many times in their Division 4 winning season. I'd love to know how the above names were getting on.

Cheers in anticipation.

Hi Martin, the only one I know in the group above is Alan Crockford who I had the fortune (misfortune depending on how you look at it ) of accompanying on the train down from London to the Southport game at the end of the season, first time i've met him properly and he was very funny, a little eccentric though!

Only 7 days until we go there now, the excitement is too much already!

I think we've sold 20,000 tickets in 3 days which isn't bad for the Conference!

Eccentric? Alan? Shurely shome mishtake....rolleyes

Dave is his brother although they look as alike as Halle Berry and Jimmy Greaves. They all worked on the fanzine Exe Directory around that time.

The very best of luck next weekend. As a Yeovil Town fan, I'd like you to go up with Adam Stansfield scoring the winner. He played fifteen minutes of our title-winning season a few years back as he broke his leg in the first game, damned bad luck.

Anyway, best of luck, Nic, and enjoy the game.

Yeah, met all of them over the years through travel to away games. The only one who I hear from now - indirectly through the ECFC fans' forums - is Alan.

Block 124 for me and Ants slave just off the halfway line in the bottom tier!

This is getting real now, interestingly we're back there again on the 16th June to see Muse!

Blimey, sounds like heaven Nic. Off to Wembley twice in a month, once to see your favourite footie team and once to see one of the greatest bands on earth live.

I've got to make do with Mika at the Birmingham Academy tonight and Notts Forest v Yeovil tomorrow night.

Enjoy yerselves...

If you are in the front 30 or so rows, be prepared to get wet if it rains!

Thanks guys, even better than all of that is that Ants employee who is a friend of mine is the club mascot and I've been asked to be his minder for the day while he is mascotting before the match!

We're sat in Row 23, so I guess if it rains we'll get wet there!

I was in row 11 and got wet, only rows 30+ seemed to escape it. The trouble is the roof is so high, any kind of breeze blows rain a long way back into the stand.
