De la Hoya vs Mayweather
Discussion
I think De la Hoya has it within him to win - he is the bigger man - and taller. And I am sure he is strong as Mayweather. Mayweather is coming UP half a weight so his punches may not have so much effect. This will be the crowning glory on De la Hoya's careers if he beats Mayweather and I think he has it within him to do so.
He is up for this fight no question and for all Mayweather's bragging and big-talking I sense he is walking into the unknown slightly and he knows it - hence the smoke screen. De la Hoya has fought bigger men (physically) in Hopkins etc and lost and it's mental toughness you learn from those sort of fights ...
I think it could go to the judges but whoever wins, if Oscar puts that boasting tt on his arse just once, then we'll see what all his bling, bitches, ho's and fast cars count for then ... zip!
Has he really ever been hit, Mayweather? Cos if the fight goes long, he will be ... I expect De la Hoya to be in the peak of condition for this fight and his speed could be a match for Mayweather's. And of course he has a decent chin. Think all the support will be for OdlH and Mayweather may find he has few friends in the crowd.
I can't wait!

If Mayweather would shut the hell up then I would back him but I am with Oscar on this one.
Read a piece on this fight and it said Mayweather can't understand why he can't draw the crowds and admiration from boxing fans like De La Hoya does. Or earn the money. De la Hoya is getting TWICE what Mayweather is I think.
The piece said if he cut the trash talk and dissing his opponents he would stand a better chance of reaching De la Hoya's standing in the sport.
Whether he realises this or not time will tell. but as he said this is his last fight it's already too late. We'll see whether it's last fight when his record stands at 38-1 as I believe it will after Sat night.
If you look at Mayweather's record he hasn't stopped anyone before the sixth round in his last dozen or so fights so he doesn't seem to be that big a puncher - ie no first or second rounders - guys may go down but they don't get knocked out.
He has 24 ko's from 37 fights.
The longer the fight goes, the better De la Hoya's chances I think. Small ring, puncher's gloves and the weight issue all come into play.
