Sam Allardyce resigns from Bolton with immediate effect
Discussion
Rumoured to be linked to the job at Manchester City.
"It was mutually decided that I step down now rather than at the end of the season," said Allardyce in a statement on the club website. "That will give my successor the ideal opportunity to experience the preparation and build up of matchday in readiness of next season.
That's bull for a start, the end of the season is vital, especially when chasing a UEFA place, his replacement will have the whole of the summer to prepare for next season. Now why would he consider moving from a team looking to be heading again for a top league finish and European football next year to one of the perennial strugglers.......oh.... I know......money. I guess he no longer gets his wages topped up with the occasional brown envelope from his son after his appearance on that TV program.

From the soundbites I've heard it sounds more like he wanted to resign at the end of the season but board were more of the "if you're going to go you may as well go now! " possibly due to bonus clauses in his contract. this is pure conjecture but just the feeling I got from the statements.
