Have been flitting about the TV channels watching this all morning. Great player, great attitude to the game and will be sorely missed by all involved in football.

Yes, a real shame. He was outside in his garden on his own when he had the heart attack.

One of my favourite Exeter City managers ever. Completing a 2-0 and 3-0 double over Plymouth Argyle will live with me for a long time, and goes some way to illustrating the passion and commitment he had for the game - he knew what it meant to a fan to win your local derby. Difficult to imagine today an Exeter manager being headhunted to manage in the Premiership, but that's what happened when Bally left us for Southampton. I'd have had him back any day after he left in a flash.

True legend, a proper sporting hero, and unlike today's inflated imposters in the national shirt, a genuine world class player (with a winner's medal to back it up too).

RIP Bally.

I confess I'd forgotten he managed the Mighty Grecians!

Very sad. A true gentleman.

Oh bloody hell! Will you and Moxey stop banging on about how good you used to be hehe

Agree he did well at Sid James Park, but was hopeless at Saints (IMHO) but then I have a jaded view of Saints poaching South West Managers

Good luck for Saturday, be a real achievement for little ECFC to regain league status, albeit via the playoffs.

Thanks... I think

Long way to go yet though, 90 minutes on Saturday then another 180 before we even think about getting to Wembley.

Nice to have the opportunity in our own hands this year though, unlike the last couple where we've been hoping other teams lose.

Be even better to get there to beat the likes of you there!

As Mox said, Alan Ball was somebody who understand the idea of local rivalries and probably with the exception of Eamonn Dolan since I can't think of another manager as passionate for our club while in charge.
