Yes, they were utter sh*te and yes they were under-supported, but I can't but feel a little bit sorry that the SRU and Edinburgh and Glasgow-based pseudo-politicos are disbanding the Border Reivers due to the state it will leave the game in that part of the country in.

The professional franchises have raped the talent of the area and now with them being scattered even further afield, the once-great club teams of the Border towns will be even worse off. It was never going to work having just one team for the region, surely the SRU weren't surprised when the attendances are rubbish.

The price to pay for a professional game perhaps, but still a shame for a part of the country where the game is sacred and most of the Scottish greats were raised

I agree, but if you recruit a has-been like Gregor Townsend, you lose sympathy very quickly!

It is a shame that the Borders team is going but they were crap and most of the established borderers were either up playing for Edinburgh or Glasgow or going where the money is, ie English Premiereship!

We need a pro side in England like have already proposed, like the Celtic in the Premiere League, we need a competitive team down there. Edinburgh and Glasgow are as good as they'll ever be! All our star players play in the south now anyway!

There is now only the Glasgow Warriors under full control of the SRU anyway, since Edinburgh became privately owned!
