I've done quite a few half-marathons. The track surface isn't any harder than running on the roads.

Tips from me:
Don't try any different preparation beforehand (usual food and drink).
Don't set off too fast.
Do protect yourself from chafing (vaseline or plasters on nipples for example).
Enjoy it

Hey BB,

Doing this again - will be the 3rd year in a row. It's a great event, and to be honest is no harder on your knees than any other road surface. Watch out for some of the infield section with the gravel/chippings etc that can be a bit of an ankle twister.

Don't go off too quick at the start and you should be fine.

What sort of time you hoping for?

I'm hoping to break 1hr 45min this year!

Cheers for the info Chris. I am hoping to get under 2 hours I have done an LSR of 1hr 50 in training so hopefully if i pace myself well I should get under that. The greatest plans though!!!

Good luck with the race.

I'm thinking of training for the Bristol Half on Sept 9th. Might take quite a bit of work to get into PB shape though.

Hey BB - how did you get on?

Couldn't believe the weather!, we had everything : rain, hail, snow and gale force'ish winds. It was difficult conditions - I noticed Hendrik Ramalla struggled to break 5min miles with those head & side winds.

Managed to set a new PB - 1hr 43min 57sec - well pleased!

Hope the legs aren't too sore!

Hi Chris, Was something else all weathers of the year at Silverstone as normal, That hail really hurt at times.

As a half Marathon Virgin I managed a PB also in 1hr 46 so just behind you, was well chuffed with my time. paced myself well. Dona negative split well, and done last 4.1 miles in about 30 mins.

Don't know how the Lucouzade bottle and Bob the builder managed to stay upright. You also can say you have beaten Nigel Mansell around Silverstone :hehe;

Just had a flick through the top 30 finishers or so. Apart from Ramaala (1st) everyone else looked to really struggle with the conditions. Abyu was about 8mins outside his normal pace. Must have been very windy!
