Six Nations - weekend 3
Discussion
So, we've already got a thread running on the Ireland v England game, but what of the weekend's important games?
France v Wales should be interesting, but as a Welshman I expect to be watching at least the first 5 minutes through the cracks of my fingers! Unfortunately we're putting in some dismal performances at the moment, but that buffoon Gareth Jenkins seems to think everything is rosy in the garden and is still happy to leave his best players outside of the 22 while continuing to make the same old selectorial and tactical blunders. The guy really worries me, but hopefully we'll get to see where he's trying to take this team on Saturday because up until now his strategy has been as clear as mud to me and everyone else in Wales.
On the plus side, we cannot possibly play as badly as we did against Scotland and we've got a pretty good record in Paris, having won 3 of our last 4 games out there. Wales v France games are normally pretty exciting free running, high scoring affairs, so let's hope for more of the same on Saturday. Despite his general uselessness, Jenkins has re-instated our strongest front row and brought back Ian Gough at 2nd row after his disasterous decision to bring in Rob Sidoli in his place against Scotland and thus put our scrum into meltdown. We also have Shane Williams back from injury, so hopefully he can rediscover some of his old form. I think we'll see a better performance from Wales all round, but France will ultimately prove too strong.
PREDICTION: France 32 Wales 24
Scotland v Italy is a very difficult one to call. I think Wales somehow contrived to flatter Scotland last time out, and I can't see Italy giving them such as easy time of it on Saturday. If this game was in Italy, I'd probably be tipping an Italian victory, but as it is:
PREDICTION: Scotland 19 Italy 15
