Is now beginning to turn into a Hearts type Pantomine.

Le Guen has just stripped club captain Barry Ferguson of the role, and has withdrawn him from the side to play Motherwell on the 2nd of Jan. Rumours are that afer several arguments about the importancy of the captaincy at any club (Le Guen does not warm to the idea of a Leader on the park, Ferguson does), Fergusons game against St Mirren on the 29th of Dec, will now be his last for the club!!!.

Im a Huge Rangers fan, and this has really 'got my back up'. Quite Frankly im raging, I can't understand why Le Guen is doing this, I feel he is loosing the plot very much to the deteriment of Rangers FC, and very much against Fans opinion (Ferguson has consistanly been Rangers best player this season).

So I pose this question: How important is the role of a captain in Sport (not just football)?

Being an Aberdeen fan, the situation at Rangers is filling me with joy and causing much hilarity. I wonder if the huns can take the title of most shambolic club from Hearts this season!

A good captain and/or manager who the team believe in, is beyond value in sport (in my opinion).

Can I pose a question too: "Paul Le Guen, best manager of Rangers ever?" Long may he disrupt and interfere with the Hun hehe

Booo! lol

Typical, post a thread about Rangers and the sheep come flocking in.

In all truth it pains me that Rangers at 'battling' it out with Aberdeen for 2nd spot, infact its embarrasing. How could we have dropped so low, because lets face it, when was the last time Aberdeen did anything significant in football?

Ahh the joys of being a provincial football fan and watching the mighty Gers struggle.

The only shame about PLG is that he is allowing your neighbours to storm off with the SPL.

Perhaps Strachan will buy Ferguson, he appears to like ex Rangers players !!!!

Anyone noticed how the Rangers Manager on the Radio sounds like one of the British Airman in Hello Hello

Yes, a captain is important to the team. That's why they can also have a huge negative effect when working against their manager. I think PLG made the right decision and Murray should stick by him.

He didn't win much else, and I suppose he will be the only person in there that I would reconise!

I'm a Celtic man and have to admit it's been an amusing season so far with the gers and the herts but PLG's exit looks like it's going to have consequences on my other football love....
I've never been a fan of Smith (especially after his part in 9) but it looks like he will be Director of Football at Castle Grayskull and I hope he stays on with the Scotland setup as there's a glimmer of hope that we might actually be in with a chance of maybe qualifying for a tournament again after the Bertie years. Knowing Scotland over the years we'll fail in style but for now it's put a bit of excitement back into the watching the National team

I hope Rangers don't get Walter Smith.

Tha national team really need him at the moment. Who would have thought Scotland would be sitting at top of the group at this point.

I don't really want Walter Smith back, he has done his time at Rangers and I feel taking him back would be a backwards step.

He would however put Barry 'Im a god' Ferguson in his place. If Ferguson was the world class player he thinks he is, hten he would have stamped all over Dunfermline's midfield yesterday, but no.

I would rather Ferguson was sold, and we could use the cash (which won't be a lot), to snap up Brown & Thompson from Hibs. Then we could look to buy a right back and two central defenders, then a left winger, and somebody who is better than Sebo(not hard), to do the donkey work for Boyd.

Infact I wouldn't mind having a whole new team, who play as a team, and don't revolve their play around Barry Ferguson.

The only players I would keep in that squad at Present are Smith, Boyd (because nobody else can score), err and thats it.

Don't even mention Hartley, I would deplore his signing if he came.

Well, it looks like Walter Smith and Coisty are pretty much the new Rangers management team. Can't help but think that the old firm have once again found a way of undermining Scottish footie in general. Wait until the national team play their best in a long time, and then steal the manager!
