....just walked out of the UK championships at 4-1 down against Stephen Hendry in a match that should have been the best of 17 frames? The guy can play like a demon but is obviously still hounded by them as well? Caught the BBC team on the hop if nothing else.

Hendry would have pasted him anyway, best form he has been in for a long time.

Ronnie can be a loose cannon sometimes though, he will be back for sure.

Watching Hendrey being interviewed i got the impression that Ronnie was 4-1 in the lead when he walked, which would be even stranger.

I hope the guy is ok.

Stephen Hendry was 4-1 up, Ronnie literally just walked out. His sponsors, the ref, everyone is completely baffled and has no idea. Ronnie's not going to make a press conference either.

Clearly he has problems outside of the game - let's hope he sorts them.

Let's hope he hasn't left for good. He's threatened to leave the game often enough but I thought he was getting back on the straight and narrow. I'm no Hendry fan but must say he was looking good for a win, his levels of concentration were there right from the off.

I've just read his autobiography, he quite a mixed up lad. Taking prozak everyday to stop his depression, he mentions in the book the amout of times hes thought about throwing a match as he doesnt want to talk to the press & interviews afterwards, hes been in & out of the Priory & comes over like hes totally confused 12 year old who cant decide what he wants to do with his life.

He is a perfectionist but that is totally getting in the way of his enjoyment of the game.

First century break age 10.
First 147 age 15.

He is a total natural but will never be the best until he finds himself, i believe no one can help him, he has tried, its just him.

Splodge - well put. It's a shame that the talent the guy has (I've seen him play - watched the Masters at Wembley beginning of this year; amazing) is matched in volume by the depression and troubles he is under.

I'll not pretend to even remotely understand, but they are not the actions of a man content with himself. Just look at the number of times he has spoken in public about quitting (he first did it when he was 18 !!! eek), and the number of reinventions he's had. It can't carry on - the public, I'm sure, will start to get frustrated and I'm sure his management team, indeed with himself, will not want to go on.

BUT, when you see him in amongst the balls taking 5seconds/shot...feck me, that is MAGIC!!!

When you have tallent like this www.youtube.com/watch?v=McThDshEgU0 playing to a normal pro standard must be massively frustrating.

Everyone interviewed - clive whats-his-name, John Parrot etc all said he should face some form of reprimand.

I don't think he should be punished, he was having a bad day in the office, everyone has them, it just happens that his office is screened live on the BBC.

I'm in two minds. He's obviously having some troubling times, again, BUT he has shown disrespect and dissent to the game of snooker. To the fans (some from GERMANY) who came to watch him play?! So what if they get tickets again.

I went to Wembley this year specifically to watch Ronnie play. It was great and I'm really glad I did. But if he'd have legged it because he "had a bad day in the office" then I'd have not been happy at all.
