Over in Aus at the moment, and wondered now that the Barmy Army is a registered trade mark and web site/cric ground shops doing well merchandising Official products, but the real "Barmy Army is just a varying group of supporters who get together and drink and sing (very well).....do they sponsor "Give us a song Jimmy" or is he the business leader..

I've yet to meet Jimmy but expect to bump into the fella over the next few weeks and enjoy a few songs. From what I know he's not officially on the payroll of the BA but is a good 'face' to use as an advert.

So 'bomber' are you out for the cricket or other pleasures? I'll be doing the PH Family proud with taking the LM06 shirt out for an airing.

IMHO Jimmy is an ar*e. I read somewhere that he is a 60 year old loser who
relies on goodwill to pay his way. A sad advert for this great country .
I've been on many overseas cricket tours following England and he is basically a football
supporter purporting to be interested in cricket. I would suggest that anyone who
wanders around the ground trying to get everyone to join in with the mindless foootball
chants has no interest other than his own perceived 'cult' status.

In Mumbai this year where there was no alcohol in the ground it was noticeable that no one
joined in with the infamous "Everywhere we go... People wanna know... Who we are.." ....ad nauseum

IMHO The Barmy Army and Jimmy himself add to the enjoyment of the game. I have met Jimmy and he is a decent guy, and certainly knows his cricket. The Barmy Army helps the team, keeping their spirits up and this has been said before by them. It is obvious how much they appreciate them, at Trafalger Square after the ashes win when Vaughn actually gave his seat up for Jimmy.
