Well having completed {competed?} the 18 hole London PH pub golf challenge yesterday http://pistonheads.com/gassing/topic. (although admittedly from the ladies tee - ie halves) I was feeling a little jaded today and had booked the afternoon on the sofa + a 6 pack of Grolsh to take the edge off the inevitable hangover....

Well what a treat. I'm a Chelsea fan and obviously I'm smarting somewhat - lets not get drawn into the Drogba disallowed goal (why?) and the Terry second yellow (pathetic, referee).... but overall two top quality games possesed of everything that makes the Premiership great to watch. There's more than just quality football here, there's storylines too - the West Ham renaissance, Wenger vs Pardew, Spurs' Chelsea hoodoo gone, a team who didn't play the biggest benefactor of the days results (yes thats you Manyoo, but there's plenty of time yet!)..... and more.
And there was some really good football played too - super quick, ultra competitive, some great goals but a paif of typically blustering premiership encounters. Want some rinky dink skills show? Watch Spanish on channel 403 for the next few hours, but sure as hell it wont be as exciting, as competitive as what I've just watched since 13:30 this afternoon... Hoorah the premiership! Lets hope there's plenty more of this to come.

I'm not intending to start any sort of argument, Steve, but I thought another interesting twist to the second game was the relative fortunes of SW-P and Lennon.

One could list Parker, Johnson, Duff alongside Wright-Phillips as players who were brought in and sidelined. W-P was ineffectual when he did get on today largely due to his lack of games one might suggest. Lennon, however, looked great once over on his favoured right hand side.

Obviously it would be stupid to suggest that it's only Chelsea who have been guilty of this sort of 'player hoarding', but today was in interesting comparison of the differing fortunes of these two particular players....

Well done The Hammers, by the way!

Well your response is a little o/t so I'll counter with a brief response borne of my own opinion: the reason SWP doesn't play much is because he is terribly inconsistant when he does play ergo he's something of a liability on the pitch. Lennon plays a lot, plays (mostly) well.

Great afternoons footie though....

He's an enigma, isn't he. I'd be made up if we saw his Man City form at Chelsea......
