the only sad thing about it is how much these guys get paid to be so crap, is there another profession where you get paid to be so rubbish?

And so they should.
At Under 11s level I was always told NEVER to kick at your own goal. Even more so now 'keepers can't use their hands. He should have kicked wide.
I fail to see how Robinson was at fault.

Apart from the fact that the divot it hit was probably made by him and he had all the time in the world to trap the ball and place his kick. And is he incapable of catching the football? He punched everything tonight when the only thing he should have been punching is Gary Neville. Not because of the back pass, just for being Gary Neville.

you must fail a lot of things then - this guy is a "professional" footballer - all he has to do is kick and punch a ball, all day, every day, some of us save lives, others have to take lives.

All this guy has to do is kick and punch balls (remember they are not allowed to catch the ball these days - anyone know why?)

The general level of incompetance in English football is amazing - of course the poor losers are the fans who pay to watch this crap every week (and yes I include myself as a proportion of my Sky subscription goes into the football pot even if I do not subscribe to the sports channels)

I have to say it is more entertaining watching the local amateur side - at least they have a bit of belief in the game and some passion to win, and you know your entrance fee is being spent wisely.

Er, no.

With wonderful hindsight 'pundits' are saying he should have trapped it, made sure there were no divots etc. His kicking is rarely anything but perfect. The bottom line is that it could've happened to any keeper and Neville should NEVER have kicked at goal. THAT is the schoolboy error.

It's a shame this incident had to happen to arguably the only two England players who had any impact on the game last night. Not that it would have made any difference to the actual result of Croatia winning

The only impact Neville has is passing the ball backwards normally - this time he managed to screw it up royally!

His tackling is ok, but going forward he has always struggled to get a decent ball in - so playing wingback is completely the wrong role for him.

Huge mistake which shadowed a good display (those saves he did were pretty damn fine) . Didn't effect the result as England couldn't score against the toffee's never mind score for toffee. hehe

Agreed. And shame on McLaren for trying to convince us it was 3-5-2 rather than the turgid 5-3-2 that we all saw (and knew was coming as soon as we saw the teamsheet.)

On a happier note did anyone else notice that the Borat advert changed to say "Jagshemash!" just as the oggy was going in?
