Anyone else do the Windsor Half today? I've never known such "tropical" conditions!

How did you get on?

Some friends from my stables did it, can't get hold of anyone to find out how they did - bit ominous yikes

Tried to persuade me to do it but I'm not that mad, plus that hill you have to start with! I ran round Virginia Water last week and that took me 55 mins! Def long enough for me.

How did you do???

Nope, I was racing in Aldershot instead (6-stage road relays). How did you get on?

I did and had a bad run, but got a good time in just over 1.31. Felt awful, but came 81st so not unhappy.
Suffered through the heat and the hills, and must do more stamina work before next year

They don't run through Windsor Great Park do they? I ran a race their once (some kind of inter-country cross country race) - my god we had to jump in to crazy size ditches!

Well it was only my 3rd half marathon but definitely my worst (1hr 52). It was the only time I've ever been on a run (racing or training) where I wasn't enjoying the run and just wanted it to be over.

It was the heat that was the real killer as every other run I've done has either been early morning, evening or at a cooler time of year. The hills didn't help either. I actually found the London Marathon easier and that's double the distance! eek

Still, I'll probably back again next year.

Oh yeah, and clap to the Jiffle King.

Thanks, times were generally down on last year when I look through the results, and I don't know whay as the weather was scorching last year. I live in Windsor and train in the great Park a lot, but the 2 miles of hills from 8.5 miles when you go into the Private area of the Park was very tough.

I'm a member of Datchet Dashers if anyone is local and looking for a club to join, it's becoming more social than running, which is great, but there is still a lot of serious training to be done.

See you at Wokingham half for some better times in February (Or at the Tough Guy in January)
