England got a rough ride there last time with a lot of racist chanting from the Macedonain "fans". Apparently they have been warned that if there is a repeat they will forfeit the game 3-0.

Personally I would rather England win 3-0, perhaps with goals from Defoe, Lennon and Ashley Cole and silence the bigots in the best way possible.

no prediction but just a comment to say that as I don't have Sky sports - I will have to go to the pub to watch my national team.

Is there any way to watch it on the web???

Job done. It's always tough in those places and Macedonia weren't a bad side and were quite physical.

I wish we could play Lennon instead of Downing with Gerrard on the left or even better Cole when hes fit on the left with Gerrard down the middle, Lennon down the right and Lampard on the bench. Lennon is one of those players that you know will make things happen. Downing just isn't in the same league. (IMHO)

Silly booking for Cole at the end. Carrick had called him for the throw twice but he held on and was bound to be booked.

Overall though a decent enough perfrmance and the result was what mattered most.

Dump Lampard, Downing and don't let Cole J back in the team.

And I don't ing believe the lanky one scored again.

Unpossible!

Exactly what is the point od bringing Johnson on in the 87th minute? Give the chap 30 minutes at least! christ, what exactly is he expecting him to do for those 200-300 seconds he's be on the pitch? A bit disturbed at Crouchie. he has a great record, no doubt, but against teams like Jamaica, et al, it can't really be taken into consideration. I really hope he is not out 'top striker' from now on!

The boy Rooney will be back for the next one!

I thought Crouch was a joke when he first came on the scene and I think thats because he resembles a young giraffe away from its mother for the first time. When you get away from the fact that he looks nothing like how a footballer should he has some good attributes. Obviously hes a great target in the air, hes a rasonable finisher and he does hold the ball up well. I think hes a good foil for Rooney and has to be a better bet than Svens perennial favourite, Emile Heskey!

But Heskey was the big white hope!

Look at the ingredients - big, strong and fast with the mobility that Shearer lacked. He should have been the dogs danglies instead of the big fairy with a banjo for assaulting (badly) cows arses.

Crouch and Hargreaves both played well again last night.

Downing doing ok, but needs to start beating his man more regularly if he is to justify his place.

Lampard needs to be rested for a few games and Gerrard given the attacking midfield role, maybe roaming from the right with Carrick and Hargreaves sitting deep. Carrick has a good range of passing whilst Hargreaves has the most amazing engine for getting up and down the park and is also a bit of a dab hand at freekicks... Lampard seems to have none of these attributes on current showing.

Personally, I'd be quite keen to try the following formation:
Robinson; G.Neville, Ferdinand, Terry, A.Cole; Gerrard, Carrick, Hargreaves, Downing; Rooney, Crouch

The thing that continues to baffle me the most is the absence of Kevin Nolan and Gareth Barry from the squad.

I hope so too. I still don't think he's any good.

I think thats fair up to a point and he certainly looks ungainly but ..... his goalscoring record is exemplary. Ok we say its mainly against lesser nations but if thats whats put in front of him..... And he's comfortably outscored everyone else in those internationals. The proof of the pudding will be how he does against better opposition sure but lets not condem him at a time when his goalscoring record in 2006 is (AFAIK) the best in the world.
