Good. He was only in there because of Sven's love and the fact he had the captain's armband. His fame shouldn't guarantee him a place in the team regardless of form. I would put him in the squad but not on the pitch, simply to provide an experienced head for the younger players to look up to. Aaron Lennon was a much more lively and exciting player in the World Cup and should be given his chance. Except for set plays Beckham isn't exactly a top top player compared to others in the team and to be fair his free kicks are not that brilliant half the time anyway.

He isn't what he was but I think he still offers a vital part to the team that nobody else can.

At least it looks as though McLarens' bollox are bigger than Svens. Thats welcome.

Beckham played aboslutely spectacularly for Real Madrid at the end of last season. If he could do that for England too he'd be worth two places. At the moment, though, I'd rather see Lennon on the right. Or Gerrard, and have Carrick or King in the middle with Lampard.

That's going to give McClaren problems if he continues to do so. All the commentators will keep banging on how he can't continue not playing an on form Beckham and it will get nasty for him.

Only question is can Beckham maintian his form until Euro 2008?

Surely if you’re looking to drop a player because of his form rather than to generate headlines it would be Lampard on the sidelines.

Good for McClaren - hope the press and pundits don't beat him up too badly.

Finally someone with balls is at the helm.

Good riddance - he was absolutely crap in the World Cup. Wish he'd take the other tosser Neville with him.
