What is it with the BBC? First they cock up their world cup coverage with their very biased opinions, telling us who we should be supporting and frankly doing a poor job IMHO.

Then there was the open golf. Sat down Sun am to watch a bit before I went out to play cricket. "Live coverage from Hoylake" the Radio Times promised me. But was it? All I saw was an ex-footballer (Lineker) reminiscing with a former winner (Faldo) and speculating what might or might not happen. Not a single live golf shot was shown that moring for 58 mins of the programme. Apparently I had to press my red button to watch live golf; those who do not have digital TV had to make do with some crappy fill-up.

I was sorry when BBC lost coverage of F1, cricket, football etc. Now I'm not so sure. All BBC coverage seems to have gone the American way full of interviews, musical interludes and very little live action, stupid competitions and other such dross.

I was longing for one of the very early starters in Sunday's Open to shoot a 62, and then for the weather to turn foul so all the overnight leaders shot 77s. How would Lineker et al explain that the Open Championshiop had been won by someone whose round they couldn't even be bothered to show?

Lineker talking to Lee Westwood -

GL: Is that the aim of putting, getting the ball in the hole?

Honestly how do you answer that? *sarcastic*

Really the BBC's coverage was awful, whilst the golf was being played Allis, Torrance etc were excellent as always.

However as soon as the coverage switched back to Lineker it rapidly went downhill. How long before Hansen and (that tw@t) Lawrenson follow?

Agree that Alliss and Torrence are excellent, so why we have to suffer Lineker and Faldo is anyone's guess.

Sadly for me the style of coverage has become boringly like the USA in as much as too much emphasis is attached to putting. I know that ultimately gives the average viewer a chance to keep up with the scores but for me I want to see more of the best players in the world striking the golf ball. The way they make contact with their well struck irons is something we can only dream of.More full shots please Mr BBC.

i think the golf is one of the many sports the bbc fails miserably with its attempt at coverage.

Whilst I disagree with the way bskyb has bought all the decent sport - in a way you could say the way they cover it, in the main, is very good.

my game, rugby league was being murdered by the beeb, sky coverage starting wth the old stones bitter championship has been overall, excellent.

I could list, football, rugby union, golf, tennis etc all mishandled by the beeb.

The BBC sports personality - your kidding right....

At 1st when SKY won the rights to Champions League coverage I was apprehensive. However as the last few seasons have shown their coverage is the best, far outstriping the comercial channels on council tv.

Its just a shame SKY is also filled with crap like 'bid2wintv' etc, because their football coverage is the only main reason why I watch SKY, 5 hours of champions league footy on champs league night..magic!
