Haven't heard yet what the FIFA disciplinary review panel said about Rooney and the knacker stamp red-card. I thought their verdict was supposed to be out Sunday - anyone know?

No, he should work in a post office. He's good at giving out stamps.

Takes the piss given Ronaldo's wink... and in the light of Figo's headbutt... Zidane's little effort...

Thanks - so reviewing the video they, the experts, clearly saw it as a deliberate goolie stamp? WTF?

Whatever, given all the other shite that's happened in this WC the game has been brought even further into disrepute than it was before. Very cynical.

It was 2 games and 5000 swiss francs!!! He misses the opening 2 Euro 2008 games against Andorra (Sept. 2) and Macedonia (Sept. 6) -- the two lowest-ranked teams in a qualifying group also containing Croatia, Israel, Russia and Estonia.

I do sometimes wonder if the English players and the English game (far more physical, not so abvious cheating, not rolloing on the floor for half an hour after getting a fly in your eye etc etc) are picked out by the FIFA police just for the hell of it!

So presumably they will fine Zidane a packet - they can't ban him from internationals, so financial sanction is the only possibility. If they don't (coz the nasty Italian insulted my mummy or called me a dirty arab) then they really are bent bastards. At least in Rooney's case you can argue that he was just fighting to stay upright and on the ball. A head-butt off the ball has to be considered a tad more serious I hope.

Blatter has a thing about the 'English'. The verdict was absurd. Personally I think the red card was for the handbag push on Ronaldo, and not the 'stamp' that wasn't a stamp. How Figo merely got a yellow card is beyond me... Shows the ineptitude of the authorities. Why do they not stamp down on diving, and cheats, rather than these pathetic incidents.

Well unless they buck up their ideas we could have a problem to get in the finals

Snap - I'm sure the ref changed his reason for the card post-match when he saw the replays. What's more, he didn't seem to be doing anything much until the little shove by that lout Rooney. However, as for Zidane, Rooney was really dumb to rise to the bait and shove the diving tosser - he fell straight in the trap.
