As long as premiership teams continue focussing on foreign talents rather than helping growing potential at home...

Almost...

With a fully fit squad and a decent manager we could have done it this year - with a spot of luck.

We didn't have a fit squad
we didn't have a manager who could cut it
We had scant luck

But I'd agree with your sentiments in general, we're not heading in the right direction!

looking at the performances in these last knockout rounds,

Id say that this was Englands best chance for a long long time.

Shame.

Hey, I'd love be be enthusiastic...

But with the exception of Lennon - who was the only player to show a bit of passion and heart, the rest just didnt seem to care it was the world cup, and rooney, overhyped and immature... he's just going to burnout like Gazza et al...

I can see English football just getting worse, not better...

Add to that clubs like Chelsea, Man U etc... where most of the players are foreign, and while this is fair enough for the preimership, it doesnt help really find and nuture the talents of English players...

I said at the very beginning we'd probably do better with the best 11 English players from the 1st division than the overpaid, uncaring 'more worried about their hair gel advert deal than the world cup'... because at least they'd have passion, have heart - give it everything for the 90 minutes of every match because they'd actually appreciate the opportunity to represent their country in the world cup...

As long as you overpay them for underachieving, you will get a bunch of sub-standard players led by a giraffe and a kicking mule.
Oh Oh , and let's not forget the WAGS too.

What utter, utter, utter rubbish. Since when was the size of your paycheque any relation to your patriotism? Do you think the Italians, French, Germans and Portuguese are on considerably less than the England players, given that a fair proportion of them play in the three biggest and richest leagues in the world: England, Spain and Italy?
