Thinking today about Zidane`s last game etc. Arguably France`s all-time best player and would possibly make the top 10 international players. Then thought about Italy. Plenty of decent players, but who stands out as their all-time great? Dino Zoff????

Paolo Rossi or Roberto Baggio shoud be in with a shout...

Saw the latter play his last professional game at the San Siro.

Rossi should probably get it on account of Baggio's crap hair do.

Maldini is in with a shout along with Baresi, Zoff, Gigi Buffon and Altobelli and but it's people like Gattuso who do the donkey work and get little recognition

Cantona was Frances Best ever player IMHO just didnt geton with DA Managment...Would also argue Platini would take some beating..Although Zi Zu is a truely wonderful player and I hope he lifts the cup on Sunday to polish off a truely great International Career.

Italy Dino Zoff, Paulo Maldini, Rossi? but Buffon is certainly making his mark

Surely it would be Platini for France?.

If Zizou manages a second WC, scoring and lifting the trophy as Captain, then he will be bigger than Platini.

For Italy - Maldini shines through for shear commiment to his nation.

It would have to be Franco Baresi or Dino Zoff for me.

Another vote for Baresi. Maldini a close second.

Maldini

Although I like Gattuso, very impressed with him over the last couple of weeks. He's got a beard too!
