Has Sven ruined Walcott's future

So he was picked and the media and country went mad for the prospect of 'a new hero' 'a new wonder kid'......

So Sven never picks him for a game and we are all left wondering

Is he 'a wonder kid', will the expectation effect him?

In my opinion Sven has heaped alot of pressure and expectation on a young lad and even if he is a good player he may never be the star people antisipated!!

Not fair on him or Defo.

Sven should have had anyone of Defoe, Bent or Harewood in the squad rather than young lad Walcott but alas Sven is a fool so what does he know!

I don't think Walcott was exactly unknown and facing zero pressure from the weight of expectation before he was picked for WC 06. He will be facing more now that "people know he must be a decent player if he is in a World Cup squad" syndrome has arrived. I think we'll see him sooner rather than later with Arsenal and we will see if he really is as good as everyone says!

Thats my point, rather than slipping into the lime light through good play, skill and goals.
He has now been thrust there and people are going to expect legendary performences from the first game on, thats alot of pressure on the young lad, you only have to look at our penalty kicks to see now pressure effects even the basic of functions
