You know what i think, he did this to spite those that were trying to pick his team in the media, theres something not right with Sven,he's too passive and its not natural,he's not upping Ulrika to get rid of his pent up emotions anymore so maybe he saw this as an outlet to put a finger up to the media.
Just a wild Guess

Doubt it, it's hardly like 'boro played flowing attacking football after £xx millions spent

Maclaren's probably got Sven's metantality so ingrained in him by now that nothing'll change.

I was a fan of Sven to start with, but the last year has been a downward spiral. As John Peel once said "good night and good riddance"

The current England squad don't deserve to be the losing side in games like these... Sven has less charisma than a dead sloth. You can't expect a team to win when they're sent out 'not to lose'...

POOR.

Indeed - just posted this on the other thread before reading this. I simply cannot understand why.

Well at least he didn't single-handedly get them put out, unlike the violent angry overpaid chav.

but a few years back Hoddle wouldnt put gazza in the squad cuz he was fat n lazy, but his 10 minutes of potential genius may well have changed a game if he was brought on, so why waste a squad place with someone you never intend to use..

I don't think Rooney's sending off was as pivotal to events as Sven's squad selection, team selection and tactics.

Many managers would have won this world cup with the same resources Sven has continually underachieved with.

Agreed, what did Sven actually do during the game to inspire his team, sit on his arse doing bugger all perhaps?

You have got to be kidding.

Nevermind mind the fact England played their best football of the tournament after Rooney went off? That with Lennon on, we suddenly had a threat right down both flanks, and we were starting to use it? That Lampard was never dropped, or that Crouch - who despite being gangly and ridiculous, was a useful asset - was dropped in favour of playing an overly defensive system? That Sven didn't really care about England's fortunes? That he lacked any sort of passion for the team or the game, and apparently wasn't exactly all that tactically, either?

Why didn't Sven use Walcott? Why did he play for penalties, when he could have put Walcott on for the last 10 minutes of ET and run the Portguese defence ragged with a target man and Lennon and Walcott to pick up the seconds? Why did he insist on picking Lampard and Gerrard in the same team, when using them interchangeably could've brought the best out of them? Why didn't he make make one single attack-minded substitution during his five years in charge?

All of this, and you want to blame one of the few players who was giving everything he has, and who put one foot wrong in the heat of a scrap for the ball? Well, suit yourself, but I'd suggest that it's not the most well thought out argument for England's downfall.

To use an oft quoted Phrase,

" Lions led by Donkey(s)".....

and its most apt if you listen to Ulrikakakakakakaka...

Poor squad selection, poor tactics, poor choice of substitutes.....

Sven has nver looked the right manager for a good attacking side but do we blame him or the FA?
the FA failed to see that they had a young up and coming potential squad and so hired someone who suited a what they had. Then when he f*5ked up in his first championship (woeful selection and substitutes again) they didn't fire him. He lets his personal and business life get in the way and they give him a pay rise!
He makes even worse subsitution decision in the Euro and they still keep him on.
They get the chance to get rid of him finally this year so they take it. Hoorah.
who do they select, his bloody assistant!?
Now don't forget they are paying Sven more than any other national manager and yet in their selection process they look at such also rans that when the only decent one they look at turns the job down they go for someone who has never achieved much with his own club, or England, in all the years hes been in charge. They could have done so much better with that sort of cash. I could have done better with that team for 4 million a year!
I reckon we've another 2 years with Maclaren and then we'll get some other duffer!
