The next one is in Saffa.

If it's played late june/july it will be winter.

It's a good point. Footy is a winter games in most places and Germany is showing how the heat/humidity can affect the players badly. Though the Ghanaian players might think it a bit chilly. I s'pose you can't make it fair for every country.

Suspend the league programme throught the country for at least a month during the middle of the season? Ridiculous idea, and I don't care that some countires have winter breaks, I'd hate it here.

For southern hemisphere countries the world cup is an enforced winter break.

And? So what? The WC has always been a summer tournament, so why change? Besides, there are more northern hemisphere leagues than southern hemisphere leagues so the worldwide disruption is less. Plus the richest and most influential leagues are all in Europe......

Europe may have the concentration of money but the rest of the world probably has more.

And FIFA has a habit of following the money - hence the USA WC and Japan/S.Korea

The 1994 USA World Cup was probably the hottest to date.

The 1974 World Cup (also in Germany an also in July) was one of the wettest and most miserable weather wise - ever, I don't remember the sun shining - once.

Climate change anyone?

Don't agree with that. The biggest, baddest and best leagues in the world are in England, Spain and Italy. They pay the biggest wages and they have the best players. The club chairmen in that league are also the most powerful in football, regardless of what Blatter would like to think, and they are the ones who the TV companies - where the real money is to be made - talk to.

The reason for going to the Us and the Far East was to get a foothold in potentially huge markets. The US I don't think will work as IMO they see footy more as a participation sport and not something to compete with the big three US sports. In the Far East there are successful J & K leagues, but as far as the competition side, they having nothing even close to the power, influence or depth of the big European leagues.
