Looks like he's on the way home....
Blatter has given his performance the big thumbs down!!

They just had a feature on the news, listing his catalogue of failure:
1. issuing three yellow cards to Simunic before sending off the Croatian player
2. missing two stonewall penalties;
a) rugby tackle on Viduka - Simunic again, so it could have been four yellows!!
b) deliberate hand ball
3. blowing the final whistle as Australia scored the winning goal

In addition, Harry Kewell was offside when he scored the second equaliser, but I think that we'd all like to gloss over that one as justice was seen to be done!!

So he's the best referee in the Premiership is he?!!.....
It doesn't say much for the overall standard now does it!!

I'm sure all the fans on the terraces will issue him with the appropriate ridicule in the new season!

FIFA have a few questions to answer on this too.

The main one being, why was an English Premier League ref allowed to take a match with several English-based players in it...

Having thought about it...

It could have been worse, they could have used a Scottish Ref.

It could have been even worse than that. They could have used a Scottish goalkeeper.

I always think Uriah Rennie is a better ref than Poll However I don't think any of the refs have covered themselves in glory.

Uriah Rennie is little better than a Sunday League ref. Shame Paul Durkin reached retirement age before this tournament took place.

Bring back Clive Thomas ...

And as for Durkin, he was crap in 1998 so I'm glad both he and his 'son' have retired from international football ...

We all know there's only one decent Referee around and now he's too old to referee international games.

agreed.

On the subject of referees though, is no-one else getting pd off by the amount of whistles in the crowds, and the amount of players waving fake cards and generally hassling the refs? Thought the bit about suggesting how the ref does his job was meant to be getting clamped down during the tournament?
