Totally agree with that assesment Tonker. Except that Beckham was so useless that I would have sent him off rather than Rooney (knackered or not)as he looked like dead weight.

IMHO:

Robinson - better than David James, enough said.
Neville - injured!
Carragher - ok as a stand in right back, prefer him as centre half
Ferdinand - never been a fan and still not convinced
Campbell - that's why he's going to Portsmouth
Terry - still world class
A Cole - good, combines well with J Cole
Lampard - needs a goal!
Gerrard - good playing alongside a striker, too similar to Lamps to play together in central midfield. Done well so far
Beckham - occasional flashes of his best, but few and far between
Owen - poor, won't be missed for hsi form
Crouch - tries hard but not up to it
Rooney - still injured
J Cole - hoorah, someone who's done well, though needs a left foot.
Lennon - should be used more.
Walcott - why take him if you don't use him?
Hargreaves - best last night i've ever seen him, though still not world class

Robinson - agreed, not marvellous - are those black driving gloves he's wearing?
Neville - crocked!
Carragher - Did his job well
Ferdinand - Cool on the ball but loses concentration
Campbell - Past it - often caught out of position in the area
Terry - Not quite Bobby moore but doing very well
A Cole - Again, positional sense not good. Retreated onto the line for the second Swedish goal behind the 'keeper FFS! Still better than Roberto Carlos though!
Lampard - Doing OK but distribution not great though.
Gerrard - Getting better after a sluggish start.
Beckham - Can't tackle, can't head, can't run ... Can cross and pass very well though
Owen - Who?
Crouch - OK but can only play one way. Went past someone against Sweden and I thought I was watching Cruyff
Rooney - Not match fit but one chance is all he needs. Will score, I'm convinced. Class act. tackles back often in right back position. Heart of a lion.
J Cole - One of the few who can play that defence splitting pass ala Gascoigne
Lennon - Get him on, get him wide and give him the ball.
Walcott - Deserves at least a run-out.
Hargreaves - Did well against Sweden but didn't look fit to me.

Who shouldn't we have taken? Walcott, Campbell and Hargreaves.

Who should we have taken? Defoe, Southgate (easy to say that now Nev is crocked and Carragher can't play in the middle and Ferdi is maybe crocked).

benefit of hindsight and all that ...

Thank you guys aren't selectors. Never have I read a more misguided, naive assessment of footballers.
