..... and now, perhaps the knockers can leave the man alone. Made up for him. He took loads off (mostly) non-Liverpudlians just cos he was tall, thin and was considered ugly - according to some who would claim to be heterosexual journos (but that's another debate ) Never mind, he's in good company. Real snubbed Ronaldinho cos he wasnt considered good looking enough. Pathetic, the lot of them.

Now maybe it's time to get on Owens & Lampard's case for missing the sitters; Beckhams for havin a lousy game. Stop building Rooney up all the while to the detriment of the team

In fact, NO. Dont have a pop at anyone.

Just look at what Liverpool have done in recent years.

Play as a team; show respect for others; keep your gobs shut and play football.

May the Best Team win.

Personally, I cant wait till August. As Rafa says: "If you think you are better than the other side, Say nothing ..... Go and beat them first".

Otherwise, you'll all be lost in the ragtops from hell

Fraid I'm one of Reds supporters who don't rate him. OK as a super sub for last 15 mins, but otherwise too lightweight. Still he gives 100%, but in the end is down to the squad the daft Swede picked. Owen off, Hargreaves on, Owen off then Downing on. Perhaps fans weren't booing Hargreaves, but Ericssons decision to take off a striker for a defensive midfielder. If Wallcott not good enough what's he doing there.

Agreed re Walcott; not Crouchy.

Walcott could be the ace hand later on, where the short passing game comes into its own, against teams who dont know his game.

problem is Shadowfax, despite the quality of his midfield it appears that the Swede does not seem to think his team capable of passing so no Walcott this tournament I'd say.

Mickey - if he uses Rooney & rests Owen; rests Lampard and uses Carrick to hold; let's Gerrard off the leash, we may see some fun & games v Sweden

Thats not a bad idea,at the moment Sven seems to like to play all his aces from the Off which doesnt really allow for a holding role, why not give players like Carrick or Hargreaves a go,let gerrard of the leash and have Lamps as sub chomping at the bit ready to take over from Gerrard.

As for the forward line ,i think Owen will be better with Rooney and is dieing to partner him up front,we need to get back to playing the ball up front instead of hoofing it that way Owen will get more chances,,,leave Crouch and Walcott as players to come on and unsettle teams.

I don't really see how Crouch can be considered to have made good on his performance with a single headed goal - especially when you consider the sitter he missed etc.

Don't get me wrong - I'm really pleased for him and the team that he scored the goal - but a player getting regular full games in the England squad should not have made the misses he did.

Why cant he be allowed to miss a few - people are always ready to have a pop at the big man. Rooney only has to fart in tune and people are in awe. Lampard missed three and where's the crticism of him> Does my head in. Let's just say "Well done" for Crouchy's goal; he kept the faith.

Crouch got a goal. This does not make him a world class striker. His premiership tally was atrocious for someone in a top 3 team.

Because he's both paid a fortune AND taking the place of A.N.Other striker.

If he has that role - then he should be scoring goals. Tough chances? - fine miss 'em. Sitters? - ... what's his day job again?

Lampard isn't a striker, and at least they weren't all off target. Lampard probably should have scored, yes, but I could have scored the miss that crouch tried to volley. It was like trying to watch a stick insect kick an ant in the face.

Have you passed your name on to Sven? He looks desperate.

Lampard missed three chances he would've burried in a Chelsea shirt, including one from 12 yds from a knockdown from the "innefectual" Crouch. Up until his goal, Gerrard also miss-fired with his shooting - and I'm a huge Liverpool/Gerrard fan.

Yes, Crouch missed with the volley when it would've been easier to control the ball, do a couple of keepy-uppies, go to the touchline and make a cuppa, and then put the ball in the net, but he also took his header well and brought others into play in and around the box. Trouble is, you then need a second fit and on form striker (basically ruling out both Rooney (not match-fit) and Owen (neither match-fit, nor on his best form due to missing the second half of the season at Newcastle)) or un-shackled attacking midfielders to profit from Crouch's presence.

The problem is tactics - Lamps and Gerrard are not the best partnership in central midfield, as one will always be having to reign himself in to allow the other to go forward; England need a dedicated holding midfielder (Carrick? Certainly not Hargreaves), and one of Gerrard or Lampard, let off the leash.

So Crouch is tall and thin. And you still have this snide attitude that the booers at Old Trafford had when he played FOR England last year. Lap it up, Chelsea fan, while you can

You can't say he's not funny looking, because he quite clearly is. If you fancy him then I apologise. All as I'm saying is he is not a brilliant striker, and he's not. I don't dislike him, and he's played some good football but he's not going to win the world cup for England.

As for your 'Chelsea fan' comment, you couldn't be further from the truth you fool.

Crouch is NOT a good striker. he is a striker, yet the "he offers us something different" brigade seem to miss this. His tally in the Premiership was atrocious for such a highly placed team, especially considering the quality of service he would have recieved. I can't help think that should he still be at Southampton, he would not be in the England squad. As they say, it's who you play for...

Peter Crouch is the patron saint of gangling prats and therefore my personal hero. "More power to your flailing elbows, you lanky tw@t!", says I. Does that help?

Not in the slightest... However, it was certainly chuckle-worthy!

Mole, you call me a fool for assuming you were a Chelski fan. Your defence of Lampard suggested you were. Are you a follower of Leeds? or ManU? Then again, a Bitter blue?

PP - good shout. Sky may have brought us wall to wall footy, which is great;but they've also brought us tv's version of the sensationalist tabloid emphasis on personality, superficial gossip, rumour and innuendo. It stinks. That Crouchy aint considered gorgeous is the main thing as far as they're concerned. Maybe it's my age but it really pisses me off.
