Over half of them were German so i suppose they are trying to play it down to save their embarrasment, obviously i hope Englands fans enjoy the tournamount and avoid trouble but if it does kick off then i hope it doesnt get blown out of all proportion.
Have you noticed how the English are being constantly preached to about 'mentioning the war' yet the dutch seem to be left alone to advertise it on their T-Shirts and plastic nazi Helmuts,it seems like those that keep preaching about it are the ones that keep reminding us about it.

Yes, it's one rule for us, and another for everyone else.

Apparently, German football hooliganism is rife even in the domestic game.
Worse in the italian game too.

Having said that English 'fans' often don't do themselves any favours abroad...

Yep I watched an interview with a police hooliganism commander type person who said the Polish fans were number 1 priority for police at this World Cup. The Germany Poland game was said to be the flashpoint of the entire tournament... unless England play Germany. It is really hypocritical reporting however when 17 England fans getting arrested is huge news and 449 arrests (according to BBC news) gets miminal coverage!

I knew nothing about this until speaking to a business associate in New York last night. He reckons they get very little football news but the Germany/Poland trouble was well reported.

It is a known fact that prior to the world cup Polish Hooligans met with German Hooligans in a wood on the border and they staged a pre-world cup fight.

Lots and lots injured from it.

Also I was talking to my friend in Germany and he said the other night some Germans came into an assigned English campsite in an effort to cause havoc by damging tents etc. There were only 30 Germans and they did not expect over 250 English fans there! They got chased off quite sharpish!

26 out of 50,000? I make that about 0.05% of the attending fans then.

Really irritates me the way it gets reported - most of it is inflamatory in itself and often leads to more trouble.
