To clarify this is not tinder!

I've got a problem which is while my wife will shoot which is great, she's not as in to shooting as me and is very busy so genuinely doesn't have the time. I'm also busy but shootings one of my few vices so make time.

I've tried to find shooting buddies in the past, but have met some right oddballs. I suspect I'm not the only person here who would just like a whatsapp group or pal that you can message saying who wants a round of clays tonight/this weekend? Even better if they share interests of cars and a nice pint afterwards. I know we have the meet up, but it's a very organised rather than spur of the moment thing, and more of a PH day out than just a means for some like minded people to arrange some clay shooting.

So anyone else interested?

If so maybe copy my layout below.

Area - East Yorkshire
Local grounds - Humberside, east Yorks, ravensthorpe etc.
Interests - trap, sporting, any. Cars.
Willing to travel for away days - yes
Are you going to turn up in head to toe real tree camo? - no

Trouble is I'm never free for those meets, I'm sure I'm not alone, and when I am free to travel out of area the meets aren't on. Maybe no one else posts and the thread dies. Or maybe some other lost local souls post and meet up for talking and shooting.

I accept that, but one of the advantages of having the whatsapp, is that the group grows, it allows the kind of flexibility you and others want.

We have already had other shoots that were organised via WA and no on here, so it does work, it just needs the numbers.

We have to set a date, and its like herding cats trying to get even 6/8 people to agree on a weekend, so we have to allow majority rule.

We are planning a bit of Northern thing back end of the year, but nothing yet is fixed.

Keep watching the monthly thread.

I can’t make a lot of them either but it’s a good group and there’s no harm being part of the group and if something comes up relatively nearby then you’ll easily know about it. As has been said the more people that join, the bigger the group and the more likely there will be people within your area who can go shooting at short notice.

OP, is there a clay shooting club near you that you could join ?
Maybe not quite what you are looking for as they will have regular dates, the one I am in shoots every other Sunday

My local ish one that I use is quite small and all very friendly. When I’ve been on my own people will chat and all down to earth.

When I fancied starting shooting I turned up on my own to my local 'hay bailer'. It was a big deal for me, a natural introvert and not in my comfort zone.

They were really friendly. Before you know it I'm invited beating. Then got into game shooting. In what seems like a blink of an eye, I have two spaniels, too many guns and a ratty Hilux
