Hmmm - really winds me up this but am I being too fussy ?
I can’t stand seeing people getting into my local swimming pool without showering first - really makes me feel a bit queasy. Likewise, at the gym, people getting into jacuzzi without showering.. .
Am I being overly fussy ? Does the chlorine negate the need to shower ? If someone has a dirty arse it’s only going one way . . Just icks me out . .
Overly fussy or should I be stopping people from getting in the pool ??? ( sure that would be appreciated…)
Comments please

Does this count as gassing? Hmmmm....

I'm going to not shower even harder before I get in the pool now. Muahahaha.

EDIT: That was moved quick!

running some water over the body isn't going to do much to change a bacteria infested person.
The chemicals in the water do all that.

I would try and forget about it and move on

Yeah never really understood the reasoning behind showering before getting into a chlorine bath. Unless you are are full on showering with soap and stuff then is it really even doing anything?

Doesn't seem to be ingrained culturally. I'd imagine the % who regularly shower before swimming is below 20% here.

Seems much more prevalent in Europe, Almost enforced in some places.

Personally don't see what 30 seconds of water is going to do to someone who is already generally clean.

I swim most days and only shower after swimming. I really don't think a bit of sweat and maybe a bit of dirt is going to make much difference when diluted into a 50m pool, which holds around 2.5million litres of water.

Fussy is one word you can use.

Don't worry, half the people who didn't shower, also had a piss in the pool.

Another thread where someone apparently spends too much time thinking about other people wiping their arses laugh

That’s why in Scandinavia you are expected to shower completely naked and wash your whole body with shower gel.

It is considered against cultural norms to not do the above and would likely result in someone having a words with you if you just walked straight to the pool without a wash.

No. It's absolutely disgusting.

I use the pool at the gym, always after a cardio session. I'm absolutely dripping by the time I'm heading to the pool so always spend time under the shower to get rid of the sweat. The pool regs ask folk to do so, but I also do it out of simple courtesy to other pool users.

Same for folks coming out of steam rooms or sauna, then go into pool without showering. Just why?

If someone has a dirty arse a quick shower isn't going to change that. Even in Scandinavia I doubt they have an arse check to make sure everyone is shiny starfish clean.

The chlorine in a swimming pool doesn't have a smell. It's only when the chlorine comes into contact with bacteria, urine, crap etc. that it produces chloramines and the nice smell, so there must be a constant battle going on.

You're thinking of stopping people getting in the pool.......??

Really ? Are you in charge ?

How will you do that - placards, megaphone ?

Perhaps you shouldn't go to any pool - or the sea.

I don't shower immediately before swimming because it's 6:30am and I've only just showered before I put my clothes on half an hour before.

Not that I think that applies to everyone, but if you imagine it does you can stop feeling icky. If you give too much thought to state of the great unwashed you wouldn't leave the house. frown
