Having just come back from Florida after our usual mid winter shindig, we were considering other venues at that time of the year. We have been to Florida for 5 years concurrently(excluding covid) and we fancy a change. Has anyone on here tried Egypt for golf and if so what did they think?

Went to Jaz Aquaviva last Nov, golf course literally over the road (makadi golf resort) didn't get chance to play but it looked very impressive.

You're obviously guaranteed the weather as well.

Yes the weather is absolutely a factor, but the golf is important too. We need a selection of decent courses.

Can’t comment on Egypt, but surely Dubai or Barbados would be great venues in our winter months.

Depends on your budget for courses etc.

My brother lived at San Roque (southern Spain) for 6 years, and I don't think you'll find a better place for golf, whether it be within 10 mins or an hours drive, the standard of courses are silly good with so much choice. The only downside is some of them can get very expensive, but the upside is, cheap flights and close by, weather probably not as good as Egypt etc but it's good enough.

Thanks. I don’t think it will be warm enough in Feb unfortunately although you are right about the quality of golf courses.

Depends how warm you need it, around 20c down there at that time of the year.

We went to the Steigenberger Hotel in Makadi Bay first week of March 2023, Nice course onsite (and a small Par 3 nine hole across the road).
Weather was great, high 20's, early 30's, it was very windy a couple of the days, made the course quite a challenge !

Hotel lovely, food was good, if you do choose to play there, you can save a few Euros by paying in advance for 3 or 5 green fees.

Have been to Belek, Turkey 20+ times and played all the courses...would rather be in Egypt in Feb/March for the warm weather smile

Oh and don't miss the fairway smile
