Reccomendation for waterproof walking shoes
Discussion
I've been walking 5k daily for the last 2 yrs predominantly on tarmac / paving (and more so in winter). I've got some decent walking boots (Harkila) but I avoid using them on hard surface to not wear them out. Last pair of shoes I bought were these about 6 months ago:

They did not stay waterproof for long and were always too large which caused some blistering and the soles have worn very quick. So I'm on the look out for something for winter that stays waterproof and is a bit more hard wearing on hard surfaces. Budget of £100.

These might not be up to the wear rate you're after, they're a steal at the moment, I have the Ridgerider 6 which are waterproof and on offer too,
Reebok Trail GTX https://www.reebok.eu/en-gb/shopping/astroride-tra... try this code for another 10% off C3357DS5
Ridgerider 6 Goretex: https://www.reebok.eu/en-gb/shopping/ridgerider-6-... £38 with that code and free postage too.
I can't attest to the longevity they seem well made, I guess goretex might make your feet sweat.

I've been bumming around town in various pairs of Merrells for quite a few years now, not out of any particular brand loyalty, but because I've tended to buy them when they're on sale on the basis that'll I'll ditch them if they're uncomfortable or if they start leaking. To date they've all been fine. I tend to get hotels a mile or two from the office so I build a bit of exercise into the day and therefore end up marching through rainy London quite a lot. Never had a problem with wet feet. Sporky has clearly had a different experience. So it might vary from product to product, rather than Merrell good/bad, or it might even be down to shape of foot and gait where one person's use tends to delaminate the waterproof membrane and another's doesn't. For example, the shape of my feet tends to cause leather walking boot uppers to crack at the back of the toe box, whereas I've got mats with identical boots who don't have the same problem.
I'm currently waiting for these Terrex to be delivered. I had a bit of a shop around and these are a great price and waterproof. Obviously can't vouch for them yet but the range seem to get good reviews. I have some North Face ones too and they have lasted exceptionally well.

Thanks. Tbh I am not sure anything is going to offer decent wear rate on hard surfaces so no point spending loads. So maybe cheaper and replace regularly is the better option.Reebok Trail GTX https://www.reebok.eu/en-gb/shopping/astroride-tra... try this code for another 10% off C3357DS5

I bought a pair of lightweight Merrel walking boots a few weeks ago, think they were @£100 or so and they have been a revelation. Light, comfy, waterproof thus far in all conditions and my feet have been super cosy!! My thinking was spend that little bit extra without going bonkers, feet are kinda important.

I find this a good outlet although I'm suspicious of the RRPs published there always seems a decent discount.

Despite not being close to pensionable age, I like my Hotters. Four years old and still waterproof, where I've gone through several pairs of Merrell in the same time and none of them made it to a year old without leaking.
Fairly frequent sales which bring them well under a hunnerd.
Not a brand I have ever heard of. Doesn't seem to be much in the walking category so is it the Expedition WP you use?Fairly frequent sales which bring them well under a hunnerd.
Outside your budget, but I wear Vivobarefoots for paved surfaces. They last and are well made. My office Vivo’s last about 2 years with daily wear. Can get them resoled as well with their Revivo program.

Something like their Tracker?

No, I have a pair of quite old Hydro GTX (the more conventional boot shaped ones), a pair of Thors and a pair of Thunders.Hotter mostly seem to cater for the comfort/senior end of the market, but the waterproof walking stuff is really good - very grippy too.
Also mostly (possibly entirely) UK made, I believe.

I asked a similar question a while back. The consensus was that cheap boots were a false economy. I went ahead and bought a pair of Adidas Terrex. They've not had a lot of use but they're leaking already.
Clean them and spray every few weeks with Grangers waterproof spray (better than Nikwax IMO)craig1912 said:
