Hi all.

This may appear a bit of an uninteresting topic, and if you don't like chess, it's not for you!

I am a regular player on a well known chess website, chess.com, where you can play players from around the world.

Today I have achieved a rating of 1700, after a number of years playing.

I wanted to share that news!

I am also interested in whether there are any other chess players on here, if so what is your rating?

It has to be said, my rating does fluctuate depending on my concentration levels...

But I am pleased to have reached 1700!

I do play a lot of online chess - quite sad really!

chess.com has a number of ratings - I don't often play online so my rating is low (c. 1200 ish or whatever you start at) - my puzzle rating is 1902 though - which simply proves an ability to do puzzles smile

well done on 1700 though...

Ah yes, I should've said.

I usually play 10 minute 'rapid' games.

(almost) instant gratification smile

Cheers tho!

perhaps slightly different skills or strengths in each, but rapid play is not easy, so good rating!

I sometimes play some 30min games while having a beer. That's what I blame my 500 rating on.

That and cheaters.

It's good fun though.

Ho do people cheat on it? I got accused of that and I put it down to a sore loser...

Is it a case of using a chess computer to choose the moves?

No idea why anyone would feel the need to cheat tbh, but that goes for many games I guess!

Yeah, it's using a computer. At my elo it's pretty obvious and you can see in game review that they suddenly start playing all the top computer moves.

In my case I think it is because I'm terrible at chess openings (never bothered to learn), but have a 'strong' middle game. I think they just get annoyed that they go from a winning position to a losing one, and decide to cheat.

Well done on 1700.

I'm 1676 ECF and play mainly over the board club chess.

I used Lichess during lockdown but don't play online generally.

Like another poster stated about their own game, my openings are rubbish (lazy) but I play a good middle game.
