Tennis “up north”

When I was growing up in the south of England we played all year. When I lived in Cambridge a few years back it was the same. Some weeks I didn’t get to play every session during the week/weekend because of poor weather but I think there were hardly any weeks when I didn’t play at all. In the evening we had to use lights of course.

Yet when I lived in Switzerland they closed all the outdoor courts during the winter and here in Denmark all the outdoor courts are closed down between October and April.

Yes Denmark is colder and more miserable during the winter than the south of the UK but no worse than Newcastle or Scotland. Do tennis clubs north of the border also close for the winter or are my Danish neighbours just a bit soft?
