Rick Shiels golf videos
Discussion
I have been watching these golf videos for a while now, where the very enthusiastic Rick Shiels tests out clubs, takes on challenges with golf pros, all kinds of golf related stuff. In this one he is playing St Andrews with a current tour pro, with a twist. They are playing the old, back to front version of the Old Course, and Rick is using a set of hickory shafted vintage clubs.

Both his round of golf, and the podcast interview that he did with Sir Nick, are my two fave RS golf videos. NF comes across particularly well.
Met RS at the Belfry and he came across as a decent bloke. He's built himself up to be probably the biggest golf channel on YT; fair play to him.

When I play a round with a couple of friends, we each accuse the other of watching too much Rick Shiels if that person plays an uncharacteristically good shot! I used to watch him a lot a couple of years ago, but as his channel has grown his stunts have become a little bit too wacky and it's much more difficult to identify with his content. I much preferred him when he seemed like your local club pro rather than hobnobbing with the tour pros.
Rick's channel is good. I'm no so keen on his Kevin the Gerbil sidekick though.
I also like Peter Finch's channel which is similar but Pete's a slightly better player.

The Good Good channel has six young American chaps who are all pretty good. Rick invited them over to the UK to play the JCB club and they pretty much wiped the floor with him. He took it well though.

On the other side of the planet, you've also got South African Golf Sidekick planting feathers and growing birdies in Thailand.

You wouldn't want to take him on in a matchplay though would ya! The competitiveness of Sir Nick was amazing, the gentle mind games towards Rick were great ( a la Seve) it showed a different level of golfer....Met RS at the Belfry and he came across as a decent bloke. Golf still, but from a very different angle I enjoy stacked golf. A couple that go around thrift shops and car boot sales buying clubs to sell, then try then out afterwards.
Light hearted, but an entertaining couple.
I think Rick references Golfbidder quite a lot and he really enjoys going around golf shops, trying to bag a bargain. I became a bit addicted to Golfbidder back in 2003/2004, bought a few clubs from there. The trouble is, I haven't sold any. I have an old, shabby set of Mizuno TP originals, an almost mint set of the same, which sadly I can not hit very well, Callaway S2H2 irons in decent condition. I have my favourite ever clubs, Orlimar Trimetal irons and woods with stiff graphite shafts, various putters.Light hearted, but an entertaining couple.
Thanks to everyone who has posted links to other golf related videos, they will certainly keep me busy for some time.

The good thing is there are hundreds of different golf youtubers now covering most topics. You have the ones that just do coaching (Danny Maude, Clay Ballard, Chris Dennis etc), then you have Rick Shiels, Peter Finch, Mark Crossfield on testing equipment and general golf contend, and then your fun videos from Good Good.
The world is your oyster really.

Rick and Pete where sponsored by Golf Bidder and did a year match against other using secondhand clubs. They did a lot more videos which each other, plus Matt Fryer but since Pete and Rick joined management companies they have focused on their own stuff. They both tend to do more click bait style videos which work as their subs have exploded. Fair play to them though
