Rugby World Cup 2023
Discussion
I have managed to get tickets to all but one one Englands games, I even have a few spare for other Nations. I thought getting the tickets would be the difficult part. It turns out accommodation is a serious problem I have a motorhome and spend most of the summer in France, I know campsites in Marseilles are none existent. I have mailed a few near Marseilles and they seems to be extending their season to accommodate the games. None are very helpful with public transport suggestions.
Does anyone have experience of commuting to Marseilles from the surrounding campsites?

I was also hoping to get in from anywhere other than Marseille city by train but the evening matches finish after the trains stop running!Does anyone have experience of commuting to Marseilles from the surrounding campsites?
From the research I’ve done most of the campsites are open but as you say the trains seem to finish before the end of the games.
I cannot find any mention of rugby special trains, which is a pain. I’m beginning to think we may have to get a hotel in town but that is proving difficult too.
I’m have similar issues with Lille

I’m in Bordeaux and the Nantes watch Ireland games.
Both towns are providing free or cheap tram service from the town centres out to the stades.
There are 600 free bikes to use in Bordeaux although I’m not sure how it works.
Bordeaux has town centre camper van car park that can be used all weekend and it’s just a few hundred metres from the fanzone.
So far I’ve found free parking at Nantes near the Fanzone
There is a lot of info about each venue on the ticket website at the top on the menu bar with further links for transport etc.

Helpful, thanks. I’m off a week tomorrow to the South of France for 10 days- bit of a road trip hopefully taking in the France game on Friday night in a French bar somewhere. Both towns are providing free or cheap tram service from the town centres out to the stades.

It’s getting close now
I managed to get tickets for Wales vs Fiji and Wales vs Georgia. So it’s Bordeaux and Nantes for me as well.
I also then picked up a pair for Ireland Romania on the same weekend so have a double header in Bordeaux.
Hotels and flights sorted and have even booked restaurants in Nantes.

It should be a great weekend in Bordeaux with Irish and Welsh fans all being there.
Look out for a couple of old gits sleeping rough in an old Toyota pick up!
Friday night at the fan zone for the opening game I think.
Got ticket for Italy V Uruguay and Scotlad V Tonga in Nice then Paris for the Group A v B quarter finals. Managed to book Airbnb for the week in Nice and the long weekend in Paris. Mind you I did book the accomodation and flights at the begining of the year.
Probably good for my mental health that I missed all the England tickets, especially the way they are playing at present.

Spoke too soon. It turns out we have a flight out while the IRE game is on - doh! Hotels and flights sorted and have even booked restaurants in Nantes.
Frantic rearranging has resulted is a new plan of an overnighter in La Rochelle as we get a train to Bordeaux in time for kick off
Nothing like a last minute panic…..
We’ve been sorting last minute admin before leaving on Friday.
France is quite big. Going to be a long old drive.
I still found myself looking at quarter final tickets earlier on the RWC site- still tickets available for Pool D winner (England’s pool) vs Pool C runner up (Australia or Wales presumably).
I’ll never learn, albeit I didn’t buy anything.
It’s hard to get your head around €300 per ticket plus the cost of getting to/from Marseille with accommodation in any circumstances but not least when England’s prospects are so poor. Noticeable that there are tickets available for all of The England’s pool games- can’t imagine that would happen in normal circumstances.

You never know….but going to make a bloody good weekend of it regardless of results. Getting up at 01:30 Friday to start the trip to Marseilles…. Also going to Scotland v SA on Sunday which we got a free upgrade on our tickets, not sure what the says about sales for that game…France is quite big. Going to be a long old drive.
