I was talking with my older brother recently and he mentioned that it had been over 40 years since our first gradings with the old Thames Karate association.

Any other long timers in the same or other disciplines?

Well done keeping it up.

40 years myself as well, Lau Kung Fu under Jeremy Yau, then Chris Boughey in Manchester.

Just under 30 years for me, in various cities with various clubs, training various styles with varying levels of commitment and enjoyment!

Just under 30 years also. Still competing at international level but think I shall concede and start doing Masters events next year.

Did 4 years of Laugar Kung Fu before deciding it was more play fighting than real fighting. So started Muay Thai which I kept going for 6 years before deciding MMA looked fun so started cross training in wrestling and BJJ. After 2 years of that I calmed it all down to just BJJ which I've now been doing for 14 years.

Roughly 20 years of full contact violence has left my body in a bit of a mess.
