Don’t follow skiing but credit where it’s due, that’s an incredible achievement

It is a long time since I watched skiing, but that is amazing.

I have known Dave and his family a long time. Nobody deserves this more, the level of commitment and sacrifice everyone has put in to get him there is off the scale!

To get an idea how great a guy he is, last time I saw him was at Pendle dry slope on a random race weekend sharpening young kids skis to help them out. He had secured top 10 world ranking couple of months before. You would have had no idea.

Brilliant - used to watch Ski Sunday religiously smile

Great to hear of a British success. Sounds like a lot of grit and perseverance involved, too.

Amazing result.

It just goes to show you should never give up, he's 35 now.

If Emma Radacanu can win SPOTY for what she did then Dave should be a shoe in as doing what he did against the might of the Europeans is a much bigger achievement.

Alas he won't because no really cares about Alpine Ski racing in the UK.

£90k prize money too which must feel nice.

Brilliant achievement. Absolutely amazing. For a Brit to win an Alpine skiing WC event - well, not something I thought I’d ever see. Brought back a lot of memories of Alain Baxter at SLC, but this time with the happy ending.

I've been hooked on Ski Sunday since I was a kid (I'm 47 now) so I understand the significance of this. Absolutely brilliant news! Fantastic work by Dave and everyone who's supported him in his career.

I have been watching SkiSunday for many years and I can pick when racers are going fast or are looking dodgy. Daves runs were perfect and he was really giving it some. With the final runners 0.7 up on Dave it was difficult to think they would not pass him (even though I new the result).

Quite.

Lukas Braathen won the SL event at Wengen last weekend wearing bib #29, which was unheard of (high bib numbers are usually never expected to get a podium, let alone a win). Dave not only beat Lukas, but also SL superstar Henrik Kristofferson.
