So the time has come in this middle-aged man's life where he asks himself whether he should take up swish XXXX, so if I do what are the recommendations apart from getting lessons? biggrin

I did this in July this year

Alot of people I work with play and me and my mate thought we'd give it a go.

Cheap set of clubs of FB Marketplace and away you go.

Did a couple of par 3 courses, driving range and now play once a week.

Already upgrade my driver and fairway woods, new putter and new set of iron early next year.

I'd say just get out and have a go with some cheap clubs

OP, due to a recent sporting injury I don't think I will be playing golf again so my current set up may be up for offer if you are interested?

If you can collect from Birmingham/Solihull drop me a message and I can send you the details smile

Ask local pro's for a trial lesson / assessment and find one you really get on with, that'll make the hours out in the cold getting worse for no apparent reason a lot more pleasant.

If you are really starting out you won't have st loads of bad habits so can hopefully be taught a standard neutral grip and swing, baring any mental blocks or physical issues.

I started teaching myself and have an old shoulder issue that means any pro who wants to make me do it by the book will waste both our time.

Found a guy who would work with the mess that I am and got better quicker. Few years on I found the other middle aged hobby more fun, swapped by clubs for lycra and only come back to golf a few times a year.
