I ran 200km in Jan & just under in Feb, but TBH it wasn't a huge amount of fun outside since it was cold, dark and invariably icy... so am thinking this time of doing it on a treadmill the kids use...

So far I run 100% outside and record on a garmin. I can't justify a stryd, so if using a zwift run pod do I not use the garmin at all, just the run pod? Presumably using both will cause issues syncing with strava?

Finally is running on zwift even worth the bother?

Sorry if this sounds a dumb question but just to be clear - what are you hoping to measure that recording a 'Treadmill' run on your Garmin won't do?

Not dumb at all!
I think the bottom line is just trying to work out what I would gain from actually running with zwift at all rather than just listening to music on the treadmill... presumably its less boring, and thought I might as well record it since I seem to record everything else...
Also as a data nerd I thought it may record something useful, though I don't really know what that may be... stride length & height presumably - I need to improve both tbh so at least it may give me some baseline to work from.

I'm on Zwift mainly for the cycling, but did run a fair bit on there last winter with a Milestone footpod - my treadmill isn't a "smart" one, so in order to run on Zwift (as you no doubt know), you'll need either a footpod or a Runn treadmill sensor (which is about 80 quid).

Zwift discontinued support for the Milestone 6 months or so ago and being that it's dark, 2°C or lower, raining, blowing a gale or all 4 when I've been going out just recently, I've just bought a Zwift runpod (should be arriving in 30 mins according to DPD!).

You won't really need your Garmin - I sync my HRM with Zwift and the run pod data will transfer at the same time.

Is running on Zwift worth it? Horses for courses, but I'd say so. Bit more engaging than just watching a video/listening to music. Plus all my data is automatically transferred to Garmin Connect/Runalyse/Training Peaks/Strava when I'm done with a workout, so I can monitor fitness improvements (or not!) whenever I want to.

Certainly beats running in the pitch black and freezing cold anyway - £45 quid delivered and it'll probably mean I'll run 50% more between now and March, in the warm, fan on, drinks by my side with some banging house music. Bargain!

This pretty much sums up my thoughts on the matter.
Alas without a heart rate monitor other than on my Garmin watch, seems like I'll just be swapping one set of data for another. Hmm..

Not compatible with all Garmin models annoyingly!

Some newer Garmin watches can broadcast heart rate and pace.
