The current T20 World Cup event proves one thing…. Sport in the Middle East countries is not well supported and the events suffer from a lack of audience participation.

Most of the games have had pathetic crowds. Even the final today seems flat in terms of atmosphere and the crowd, whilst not terrible, is still well under capacity.

The FIFA World Cup is going to be similar…. Do we think huge amounts of supporters are going to choose to go to Qatar? I doubt it.

F1 has terrible support too.

It’s time this authorities stopped pandering to the money men and choose instead countries with a welcoming and inclusive outlook.

I've been to the Abu Dhabi GP twice. It was a sell out & full both times.

Many of the Middle East tracks have very small capacity for spectators though.

Qatar has been a MotoGp venue for many years, it never sells out, no-one wants to go there, most of the crowd are team member and ex pats, the Arabs are not the slightest bit interested. they have had other stuff there too that created little or no interest MXGP, rallycross all sucked at dead venues sponsors dont want it

it is called sport washing and is now the current IN thing in the Arab world, but if they think people are that easily brainwashed it just sows what they think of us Westerners!!

Abu Dhabi is pretty much sold out already.

Tbh if england, india or Pakistan made the final it would have been packed. IPL games are frequently sold out as do all the Pakistan home games (they use dubai as their home ground). Just the 2 countries with prob the least amount of expats involved in the final.

Golf, tennis, even MMA draw big crowds in Uae.

Wife has qualified for triathlon world championships in Abu Dhabi next November. British triathlon did give people the chance to defer if they want due to human rights issues.

I am concerned about the heat, this years test event was cut it half due to extreme temperatures

Sadly people put their enjoyment and own fun before morals, after as these places, companies tell you all the time, remember, it's all about you.

I see Qatar F1 GP is at capacity today. 8000 spectators.

Cool! 0.3% of the population compared to 0.18% of the British population that attend Silverstone hehe

Nearly double the take up!

Sponsors, and to a degree participants, in events that have world tours at not bothered that every event is not massively attended, it’s all about how it looks on TV.
