Apols if I'm posting in the wrong department. After many, many false dawns Mrs B is now desperate to find some comfortable walking shoes or boots that are broad fitting, not too high (she doesn't like them to be up around her ankles) and that are genuinely waterproof, or as waterproof as anything can be. We know about re-proofing and would expect to be doing that with whatever we get. All leads gratefully received. Thanks.

Go to your local "outdoors" shop and try a few on .

That's what I do .

I've got three pairs of Merrell goretex walking / trail running shoes with various tread patterns.

I'd find someone that stocks these and try them on.

Thanks, she's tried Merrells but didn't get on with them. She's had about half a dozen pairs over the last year or so but sent most of them back for letting water in.

I have a pair of black ankle boot versions, and have been really impressed with the waterproofing. Is she doesn't like them high up the ankle, the version above would fit the bill.

Go at least a size larger though, as they seem to come up small.

Keen have quite a wide fit and a selection of styles that should suit her.

Mrs puddin herself here having just read your kind responses I thought I'd clarify... I loved my Merrell's (inherited from fast growing teen puddin a long time ago that were only retired after seven years when they began letting in water). All Merrells since have failed to keep water out. Keens's were good but split within months. Scarpa wreaked havoc with my soles and Fifes were too narrow. Mid height, watertight, wide and light are the requirements. Don't mind mens as long as they are comfy and do what they're meant to. Anyone use Deep and or Harkila? Do they bear up?
