What wonderful news! The PGA has withdrawn the competition from Trump National Golf Course. Now everybody follow suit and boycott his courses.

I'm a member of one of his courses, and while I am no fan of his politics, he does know how to run a Golf Club and how to present a course like no other.

The Club also supports many local jobs and hence I think a boycott would be unfair.

Moving championships away and not hosting the Open at any of his British courses would be a sensible step, at least until sanity returns.

He knows how to lose money too. Turtnberry lost £2.5 million last year, and all his courses are in deficit.

True, but both Scottish courses have seen very significant investment over recent years. KRB at Turnberry is now an absolute peach of a course. TIGLS is going to get its second 18 over the next couple of years and the plans look good as well. There is also housing planned that will create more jobs too.

Both venues are effectively being subsidized by the Trump Organization.

Perhaps, but the situation of the Trump organization is perhaps somewhat perilous since last week. I assume you have seen the financial support lost from the multinational companies in the last few days? If this snowball becomes an avalanche - and I am not saying it will - then things can swiftly change. I believe there is a loan from Deutsche Bank of $250 million on the Trump National alone. The R & A will not use a Trump course for the Open either.

I would agree with the R&A stance.

There are assets than can be sold, but I think calls for a boycott are a little off given the local jobs that this may endanger. I don't think such a move would materially impact on Trump on anyway.
