Muay Thai in Manchester?
Discussion
Can't help with gym recommendations, but it's a great sport and it'll certainly get you fit!
There won't be any gyms open at the moment though, however you can take the time to perfect your oowwee...
Saweep is probably the go to MT guy on here (hence his user name), I'm sure he'll be along soon with some recommendations.
Isn't Stuart Tomlinson based in Manchester?

I'm thinking about starting Muay Thai aged almost 50.
Does anyone know a beginner friendly Muay Thai gym in Manchester or Cheshire?
I would of though with Covid Gym won't be open for a good few month, possibly longer for contact training.Does anyone know a beginner friendly Muay Thai gym in Manchester or Cheshire?

I've trained there previously, not so much Muay Thai but BJJ and striking.
It was really decent gym and the trainers were greater especially as me and others were in a beginners class.
Possibly - https://www.facebook.com/Salfordstrikingacademy/
Can't voucher for them but the reviews look pretty good.
Depends which bit of Manchester or Cheshire you're looking at but most seem to run beginners classes.
I'd narrow it down to a few and then pop in when they have some begineers classes and see it with your own eyes.

I'm biased and obsessed with "beautiful, Thai style" Muay Thai so I'd say drive to Leeds and train with Jompop
John Chipchase at MFA is a lovely bloke and I've trained with him and his crew in Thailand a couple of times. He would be my go to in Manchester.
Ultimately as a 50 year old you have to be both realistic about what you actually want from it and find the right gym. Some you just won't get along with for whatever reason, of which there could be many.

This is very helpful advice - I'm definately trying to be realistic about what I can get out of it and very consious of my age!! I'm biased and obsessed with "beautiful, Thai style" Muay Thai so I'd say drive to Leeds and train with Jompop

I know you were joking about driving over to Leeds to train with Jompop, but I'm actually tempted John Chipchase also sounds like a solid choice. I'm thinking about getting a few private lessons first just to get my basic fitness level up to where it needs to be. Perhaps at a few different gyms to see which one works best for me. A bit of googling today also came up with Master A's Gym and Panicos Yusuf at All Powers Gym.
